7 Ingredients of a Genius Leader's Power & Influence

7 ingredients with which to cultivate a genius leader's power and influence. 1. Build Up Our Ego. We'll need it. Great leaders have a well-developed, strong ego that allow us to not take criticism personally, to be open to feedback and to serve ethically. It takes a strong ego to be able and willingly suffer the slings and arrows of often outrageous, mis-informed criticism, while serving other people and often setting one's own personal agendas aside. A leader with a weak ego is always trying to look good or be strong and, as a result, is dangerous. "S/he has a big ego," is a statement of a shriveled ego.

Good Leaders Must Teach How False Prophets Can Mislead the Gullible and Upset the Faithful

Did you know just how false prophets can mislead the gullible and how they can upset the faithful? This is an exceedingly serious matter. Good leaders will take time to deal with this subject fully and adequately. This section can excite some people! It can also cause confusion. Jesus gave it that we might be taught and instructed accurately. Be discerning. Know what is of God and what is not of God. That is not always easy, but it would be difficult to be clearer. Jesus does not want any one of His disciples to be deceived, or led astray. Every false sect can be traced to a false prophet. This is one of the reasons why we have to know what we believe and why we believe it. When something false, or 'just not right' appears, we require the wisdom and discernment to know, and the courage to speak out.

Spiritual Leaders Are Required at Times to Teach Hard and Challenging Lessons From the Word of God

Have you ever been in the depths of despair? In Psalm 130 the writer is crying out to God from the depths of despair. We have mentioned how we can be feeling a bit confident spiritually, and God just drops a little suffering into our lives, and we soon see how we react to that. Think of Peter on that night when he denied knowing Jesus three times. He saw what he was like, having been following Jesus for three years. He realised what he was capable of, and this made him go out and weep, and God has this recorded. Paul would probably have marked himself as 9 out of 10 for spirituality, but some 10 years later he was not so likely to award himself such a high mark. When we see ourselves as we really are, we do need and require everything which He has to give us; not just washing and cleansing and forgiveness, but the robes of righteousness too, so that everything can be adequately dealt with by Jesus Christ, and that we can be equipped and prepared for our task, our ministry, our service in the Kingdom of God.

A Good Spiritual Leader is Prepared to Tackle and Teach the Challenging Passages in the Word of God

As we make our way through the Songs of Ascent in the Psalms which can be found in Psalms 120 to 134 we come to Psalm 130 and this could be accurately subtitled "Revealing ourselves to ourselves". Frequently that can happen, when we are embracing and experiencing suffering. Jesus Christ allows us to see ourselves. There are times when God does lift the veil and when He does allow us to see ourselves as we really are, and as He sees us. What does He see? Pride? Bitterness? Stubbornness? Arrogance? Self-will? Self-pity? Resentment? He may see all kinds of things. When somebody criticises you, and may have a real go at you, if you say to them, as I have done, "If you knew how really bad I was, you would not even speak to me!"

Developing Leadership Credibility - Three Keys to Success

People aren't going to take you seriously as a leader simply because you're a slot or two higher on the corporate totem pole than they are.
Why "Whole Brain" Leadership Works

Leadership is generally defined as the role that is given to those people in a group or organization who are appointed or elected to direct and/or speak in behalf of a particular group. Leadership styles generally match organizational requirements, and in most of today's organizations, that means "left-brained" dominant, or logical, rational leadership to mass produce the most goods or services at the lowest price.

Leaders Must Learn Where and When to Embrace Suffering Because it is the Balancing Factor

If it were all blessing, do you think that some of us might be tempted into becoming over self-confident? Do you think some of us might become unbalanced? When everything looks as if it is all going so very smoothly, God sends His Plough in some form. When someone gives me a row, or draws my attention to something I did not want to see, or allows a problem to arise, it is normally because I need that at that particular moment. It acts like a plough. It does what a plough does, and it can be sore, but it is preparing our life for seed. God knows what He is doing. The blessing of the Lord elsewhere is called rain, like the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and that happens to soften up the ground for the plough. Then someone receives the ministry of the plough, and they may not like it. Leadership should not only teach this but demonstrate it clearly for others to learn and understand.

Lessons in Leadership - Part 1 - Motivational Maps

My leadership coaching engagements tend to focus initially on the habits and leadership style of the client. A first stop on this journey is often the way in which they gather and process information about their team members. Often executives - particularly CEOs - have developed insensitivity or blind spots that prevents them from achieving what I call 'situational awareness'. The actual dynamics of any situation or relationship largely define what is possible. Lack of a sharply focused awareness of those dynamics is a primary reason why so many potentially powerful and inspirational leaders end up frustrated and ineffective. Improving situational awareness becomes one of the principal goals in leadership development.

Leaders Require to Know and Even Teach That Jesus Christ Watches All That is Going on All the Time!

What a lot of nonsense has been spoken about these verses over the years. You hear people speak of the widow's mite. Well, to begin with it was two mites. Jesus saw her put into the offering trumpet her only two copper coins. It was all she had. Money was thrown into a great trumpet like receptacle, noisily. Hence we call people who make a show of what they do or what they give, "blowing their own trumpet". Jesus is watching all that is going on. Jesus watches all that goes on, and Jesus sees a poor widow putting in two copper coins, and there is a ping. They were giving what they could afford to give, and what it was their duty to give. We have seen in these Chapters how often Jesus refers to money and the reason is simply this. Money says so much about us, and can reveal our level of commitment to God and His Word.

As a Leader Would You Like to Have Your Life Challenged in This Manner by This Man, and So Openly?

Near the end of Luke Chapter 20, having been repeatedly challenged, Jesus begins to challenge, and He challenges darkness and hypocrisy. Beware of the legalists. Beware of being in religion because of what you might get out of it. What was being covered up as the teachers of the law went around in flowing robes? How do we react when we see religious processions today where we know that men deny the truths of the Word of God but continue to enjoy the fancy dress and big hats and curly sticks? We need to be aware of these matters. Jesus reveals so much in so few words, and it is all taking place in the Temple, the place which was designed for praise and prayer and worship.

The Awakening

Among the many sculptures and works of art in Washington D.C. is a piece titled "The Awakening," a large aluminum sculpture of a man either struggling to rise from, or being consumed by the Earth. Created by J. Seward Johnson Jr., the sculpture has drawn many visitors since it was first installed at Haines Point in 1980 as a temporary display. It has since been moved to a permanent location at the National Harbor. Not bad for a "temporary" work that doesn't depict someone on a horse.

Why Education & Work Experiences Are an Effective Leadership Development Program

Reflect back to your education and to as recent as the previous job you held. Ask yourself how you have reached your current level of leadership and how your skills have developed over time. During this time, you were most likely exposed to a number of activities and experiences that evolved into your own personal leadership development program.

Benefits of Leadership Skill Training

Leadership skill training addresses a wide range of leadership development topics, based on the needs of the audience and scope of delivery. Leadership skill training for new leaders might be targeted to help them make the transition from individual contributor to effective leader. For more experienced or advanced audiences, Leadership Skills can address the situational decisions leaders face to either involve their team members in decisions, or to rely more on their own experience, expertise, and responsibility.

Coaching a Leader

One of my favorite memories growing up as a child was making trips with my family to my sister's volleyball tournaments on the weekends. Those memories are filled with being a part of an exciting atmosphere, sitting in the stands and watching the action-packed games. Along with watching my sister play, I recall two other players by the names of Christy and Liz, who stood out to me because of their athletic talent on the court. Over the four years of my sister's high school career, I followed their volleyball careers as well because Christy was my sister's teammate, and Liz was a player from a rival school.

Balancing Your Leadership Style

His prime objective for the coming year was the recruitment and retention of employees with a 'customer-focused' mindset. He knew the value of a diverse workforce would flow over into satisfying worldwide customer demands, impact the standardization of the delivery process of a diverse vendor base; and enhance or break their global image as well.

Why is it Critical For Leaders to Understand the Culture of Their Organizations?

In today's fast-paced, global business environment it is easy for leaders to want to focus their attention largely on business factors that can be measured. It is much easier to make sense of a complex world if we are able to measure where we stand in relation to some metric. What many leaders fail to realize is that what is often considered the "soft stuff" plays a critical role in the long-term success of their organizations.
