The Wackiest Wildest Weirdest Animals in the World by Jack Hanna

I ordered "The Wackiest Wildest Weirdest Animals in the World" by Jack Hanna to read with my five year old daughter, and we have had fun reading it together. The book has a lion on the cover and one of the 30 animals featured is a lion, so that made may daughter especially happy since lions are her favorite animals. She enjoyed the other animals too. After we finished reading the other night, I went into the other room and I heard her yell, "Mommy, come and look at the naked rat." She was referring to the last animal in the book, the naked mole rat.

Cinderella Stories in the Mexican Tradition - Three Books to Add to Your Reading List

The three Mexican Cinderella stories in this review are unique in their plot and rich with Latin folklore. The settings, characters and landscapes in each book portray the stunning Mexican traditions and heritage. The magic that helps the Cinderella heroine is not always in the form of a fairy godmother with a wand, but often is magic emanating from human kindness, dedication and hard work. In addition, mystical creatures create unexpected twists to the traditional Cinderella fairy tale.

Every little boy wants to grow up and become a fire fighter, interestingly enough, this is so common that children's book marketers work very hard to produce fire engine and fire fighter books. These books sell almost as well as the little toy fire engines at the stores. If you have little boys then you know this, and therefore you want to fuel their fire and desire early on to dream and think about their future. So, why not buy a children's book that will do just that?

Buffalo Song by Joseph Bruchac

Who will ever forget when they saw a buffalo for the first time? I'll always remember the sight of them lounging in the grass on a hot summer day at the zoo, batting the bugs away, swinging their tails side to side. Joseph Bruchac's own interest in buffalo grew when he was a child, standing in front of a pen at the Catskill Game Farm in upstate New York. Because of it, he brings us this powerful tale about how this American symbol was saved from extinction.

Auntie's House

Auntie's House by children's author Dawn Aldrich and illustrated by Michael Aldrich was recently released by Halo Publishing International. The first thing readers will notice are the illustrations, which are filled with rich orange and green colors; nature-filled scenery with lovely smiling faces, healthy women that seem to have a good relationship, and a cozy home. The back cover claims that the book is about the trust between the adult sisters in caring for the child and that the mother will return at the end of the day - but I didn't see that upon the first reading.
