Metaphysics 101 - Karma - The Law of Cause and Effect June 25, 2010 01:30:58 pm In metaphysical and philosophical communities of thought there is much discussion about karma. Occasionally you find gold within the comments but frequently the use of the word misses the point of the concept.
The Unconscious Made Manifest - Pluto\'s Path Through the Signs June 23, 2010 01:13:22 pm The astronomical demotion of Pluto from planet to dwarf planet status was controversial prior to the decision and the controversy still continues within the astronomical community. Astrologers must make individual decisions as to their categorization of Pluto. For 35 plus years, Pluto has been an important ingredient in my astrological toolbox and I shall continue to include it all that I research and read.
Metaphysics 101 - Purpose Or Chaos - Is There a Pattern to Personal Experience? June 21, 2010 08:15:55 am Following a metaphysical path can sometimes become a mind-boggling or mind-blowing experience. We can trudge along for long periods of time, slowly but surely gaining on the evolution of our consciousness. Occasionally we can experience a moment when the fog of confusion or mystery clears away and we experience a light bulb going off in our consciousness. At other times we run into conundrums. One of those puzzles that we must work our way through is whether or not the universe and our personal existence are random or purposeful.
Relationship Chart - What You See is What You Get - Actuality June 20, 2010 10:42:05 am Relating is a primary motivation within the human kingdom. We not only want physical proximity and mating but we want intellectual, emotional, spiritual and social connectivity as well. We search the world for our significant other and find a variety of possibilities. The lure of a wonderful, perhaps perfect relationship is an instinctive drive and we do our best to find our perfect mate. Have you noticed that experience may be a little different than our personal perspective, especially when time is involve?
Shooting at Fort Hood, TX - Take Two June 16, 2010 02:14:18 pm The Fort Hood shooting tragedy on November 5, 2009 sent shockwaves through our military and our country. It was darn near impossible to fathom the attack on a military base in broad daylight much less by what turned out to be a U.S.-born soldier on his fellow soldiers. As if that was not enough, the alleged shooter was a psychiatrist, a medical doctor sworn to serve and heal those very same soldiers coming home from the war effort.
Deepwater Horizon Explosion - An Ecological, Societal and Economic Disaster June 11, 2010 01:56:37 pm Fifty one days after the Deepwater Horizon explosion and we still do not know exactly what happened, who caused it, how bad it is, how and when it will be fixed, how much environmental damage has been done and how much and how long such damage will continue. We can speculate all we want, but these are unknowns at the moment. One thing we do know is that we are in this for the long-term. Decades past the Exxon Valdez debacle, Alaska is still suffering from the results. Plus Exxon as a corporation was relieved by our courts of much of the expense and responsibility for the disaster.
World Stress Escalates to the Ridiculous - The Astrological Cardinal T-Square And-Or Cross June 04, 2010 09:46:50 am I have been reading many of the astrological columns about the upcoming astrological cardinal cross that I personally see as a cardinal T-square. Many of those readings are dire and under the current economic and ecological crisis can be scary to read. Please know that many of these aspects have occurred repeatedly through the course of world history and we are still alive, inhabiting this planet. I am not discounting the potential ramifications of this aspect or the individual stress factors. All that is very real. However, I do think it would be a good idea to establish a premise to understand some of what is being published all over the internet.
Astrology - The Derivative House System - Another Layer of Reading June 01, 2010 06:28:57 am The field of astrology is huge with so many possibilities. In order to study it in a manageable proportion, we must look at it segment by segment. Once we have two astrological segments under reasonable control we can then merge them to develop a comprehensible narrative.
Metaphysics 101 - Personal Responsibility and Commitment to Your Spiritual Development May 28, 2010 08:07:32 am Little by little in this series of articles we are exploring the development of our spiritual selves. From deep asleep in matter, to initial awakening, to our first few baby steps as consciously developing spiritual beings, and to dedication and commitment for our growth and our path, we must do the steps necessary to become all that is spiritually possible.
Astrology - Houses Put a Human Face on Our Experience May 26, 2010 06:59:32 am An astrology wheel captures a moment of birth and provides a celestial map for potential experience. Yes it does take some study and effort to learn what it all means and how to generate a reading out of a page of symbols, but it can be done. Astrology is the best self-help tool I have found and it is worth all the effort I put into it just to get to this point in my understanding. I will always be a student because the scope of astrology is so broad. Of the four main cornerstones of astrology, I find that study of the houses pinpoints each experience in down-to-earth terms. Houses make it easy to identify where in your life the activity is occurring and outlines the elements of the experience.
Composites - What is the Potential of Any Relationship? May 24, 2010 08:51:10 am You have just met the most fascinating person. You toy with the idea that this might be the person of your dreams. You have visions of a knight in shining armor or the female equivalent Maid Marion or perhaps someone more exotic. The first meeting was magic and the preliminaries intoxicating and alluring. A few more exchanges and both of you are getting serious. Note: the relationship will not progress if only one is serious. Is this relationship worth pursuing? Or is it one of many you will encounter as you seek "the one?" Astrology to the rescue...
Metaphysics 101 - What Should You Study For Spiritual Development? May 20, 2010 02:45:31 pm When we begin our awakening process, it can be a bit bewildering. Sometimes we think we are imagining things; then we do not know who to talk to about what is happening to us. If we do find someone with whom to speak, we may not know what questions to ask. I mentioned in a previous article that at times your growth can feel like two steps forward and one step backward as we consciously pursue our own evolution. Hang in there, such confusion does pass, or perhaps gets easier to handle is a better statement. I have gone through some of this myself.
Astronomy Declared Pluto a Dwarf Planet - Is it Or is it Not a Planet Astrologically? May 20, 2010 02:22:23 pm When I went to school many moons ago, science class taught that there were nine planets orbiting our Sun. I lived with that concept for most of my life not even realizing there was any controversy to the count. In 2006 the astronomical community acted to change the status of one planet, Pluto. However, the International Astronomical Union (the voting body) members are still in disagreement with each other because only a small percentage of their total numbers were involved in the actual vote.
Relationships - Synastry - Who Are You? Who Am I? How Do We Affect One Another? May 17, 2010 10:28:47 am Relationships are probably the single most important teaching tool for our development as human beings. With 6.8 billion people alive on this globe at this time, it is getting a little crowded and relating is definitely a dominant and necessary skill. But not everyone is skilled in relationships.
Metaphysics 101 - Stair Steps to Personal Development - A Two Part Process May 14, 2010 08:53:21 am Spiritual development comes in all shapes and sizes, all types of experience, voluntary or involuntary. Spirit is the motivation behind all experience and the essence of a purposeful life. At times our growth and development is almost frantic or in our face as if we are running out of time to comprehend it all. At other times it moves so slowly that it seems to be stagnant or elusive, with long periods where nothing in particular seems to be happening. To me spiritual development is a two-part process and it takes the combination of those two parts to make spiritual development possible.
Astrological Rulership Goes a Step Further by Adding House Occupation May 05, 2010 09:55:12 am Astrology is a real smorgasbord of experience. Each wheel becomes a new and exciting experience. Yes there are commonalities between wheels but each becomes a whole new project to understand and to read. Astrology is an ancient study that offers perpetual new vistas of experience, a true blend of the old and the new. Astrological rulerships can deepen your understanding of both astrology and humanity.
Metaphysics 101 - Everyone and Everything is Part of the Creator May 06, 2010 09:53:29 am Just about the time you think you are getting a handle on your spiritual development the universe hands you a conundrum. This may something you would like to avoid but cannot, something that offends your sensibilities but needs to be faced. If you feel confronted by such an issue or you find yourself wrestling with one, pick it up, look it over, and see what you can learn from it.
Astrological Signs - A Deeper and Broader View May 03, 2010 05:01:25 pm Sun-sign astrology is the most popular facet of the incredibly large and multi-faceted world of astrology. Found in newspapers, magazines, on the television and radio airwaves and online in myriad forms, there is so many sun-sign columns or material available.
Metaphysics 101 - Trust Your Own Process April 29, 2010 05:22:10 pm The development of spirituality is a very gradual process starting from our personal bit of consciousness deep asleep in matter, gradually awakening at the urging of the universe. As we awaken to the possibility of universal experience, we go through all sorts of experiences with attendant growing pains. Sometimes it is a two steps forward one step back dance.
Astrology Cusps - More Than You Ever Wanted to Know About Them April 15, 2010 06:49:52 am This morning I Googled the word "cusp," a common word in my field of astrology. I did not look at astrological sites because after 35+ years of studying astrology I pretty much know that general information. I wondered what I might find on the word "cusps" if I reached outside my own field of astrology. Occasionally an explanation for one application can turn on the lights for another application.
Personal Growth - The Three Fingers of Judgment April 14, 2010 08:05:14 am Judgmentalness is a quality highly prized by humanity. Scratch that. Judgmentalness is a quality that is highly practiced by humanity. There, that is better, or at least more truthful. Of all the qualities that humans possess personal or group judgment probably causes more problems than any other.
Astrological Choices - Moon-based Research, Sun-based Application April 12, 2010 09:41:26 am Just when I thought I was done with this series I came up with another piece of the astrological choices we consciously or unconsciously make or that others make for us in our ignorance. It is not difficult to know or understand how we make choices unconsciously. Most of us have experienced moments of knee-jerk reactions stemming from some old memory or trauma.
Metaphysics 101 - The Path - Your Personal Spiritual Journey April 08, 2010 09:04:28 am This new article in my Metaphysics 101 series is about your personal spiritual path or journey. We have been exploring the basic principles of metaphysics and spiritual development step by baby step in this series. We started with what it is all about and then built from there. Creation itself, the Creator itself (by whatever name), the development of consciousness, awaking into the awareness that the physical is only a tiny part of who you are, development, insights, company on your journey are a few of the subjects we have already explored.
Kids of All Ages Don\'t Come With an Instruction Manual - Or Do They? April 05, 2010 07:48:20 am I have a bunch of kids (4) and they have a bunch of kids and they have even more kids. I am knee-deep in kids. The one thing I found out early in my life is that babies do not come with instruction manuals... or so I thought. The most amazing thing about my having several kids (all from one pair of parents) is that while raised similarly my kids are very different from each other. Oh there are similarities to be sure, sense of humor, strong family instincts, they all love to cook and produce great culinary delights, and so forth, but each is a unique individual. As an astrologer I would attribute that individuality to the constantly changing energy of our local solar system and the universe itself.
Metaphysics 101 - Company on Your Spiritual Journey April 01, 2010 05:18:13 pm I have mentioned the words "asleep at the wheel" and "awakening" in earlier articles in this series. Know that "asleep at the wheel" is the experience of the bulk of humanity, 99+%. Mankind is not aware that anything other than the physical reality we experience exists.
Historical Record of Astrology - Ancient Relics Dated Back 25,000 Years and More March 31, 2010 08:23:57 am When you begin to study astrology, you are faced with an avalanche of myriad subjects and possibilities, the study of which can seem very daunting. Astrology is a massive body of information that has been handed down for millennia. It was initially verbal, eventually codified and written as the advance of human skills codified writing as we understand it. Or is that statement entirely true?
Metaphysics 101 - The "Ah-Ha" Principle - Insight and Awareness March 25, 2010 11:57:28 am Have you ever had one of those moments when a light bulb goes off in your brain and a conundrum becomes a realization? If you are on a spiritual path (and I think you must be if you\'re reading this article) you will encounter these insights from time to time, sort of an "Oh, I got it" moment.
Parents - Who and Where is Dad in a Chart? March 23, 2010 07:54:46 am Continuing on with my articles on the roles of parents astrologically, this article will focus on the paternal influence in a wheel, dad. Previously I have written on the parents in general as reflected through the parental axis in "Where Do You Find Mom and Dad in a Chart? The Parental Axis. A few days ago I posted the second in this series specifically on the maternal influence in a chart "Parents - Who and Where is Mom in a Chart?" In this article we will do the same presentation focusing on the paternal influence. These three articles together can be used as a mini-course in parental influence.
Astrological Choices - Generic Statements Are Not True Astrology March 21, 2010 02:39:18 pm I am winding down my series on Astrological Choices and have come to a small issue that is important enough to be included but simple enough to be brief in explanation. Astrological generic statements cause problems rather than understanding or education. This one is a pet peeve of mine... generic statements that sound like they are valuable but lack content or logic. Let me give you an example.
Metaphysics 101 - Your Personal Growth March 18, 2010 05:43:30 pm Metaphysics is a philosophy, not a religion as I mentioned in my previous Metaphysics 101 article: What is Metaphysics? The core of the study of metaphysics is that there is a First Cause rather than a construct called a deity, that which precedes the construct itself and of which the construct becomes the "face." Those of us who walk this particular spiritual path seek personal union with that underlying First Cause, our return to the spiritual center of all, The Creator Itself. In this article we will discuss the personal journey.
Parents - Who and Where is Mom in a Chart? - The Maternal Issues March 16, 2010 07:41:37 am Astrology covers such a wide range of human issues, actually the whole of human experience. Anything you really want to know about human experience is somewhere in some chart, you just need to develop the skill to find it. This particular article goes to the heart of a family, the maternal aspect of any family, mom. Previously, I wrote about "Where Do You Find Mom and Dad in a Chart? The Parental Axis."
Astrological Choices - Identification, Paradox, Contradiction, the Flip Side of the Coin March 15, 2010 06:25:23 am Have you ever noticed that most sun-sign books are quite upbeat and positive about the astrological characteristics of any sign? I am a Scorpio and when I first read the opinions about who I was supposed to be, there were a number of Scorpio characteristics with which I just did not identify. Over time I established a better perspective of what those books were attempting to teach me.
Metaphysics 101 - Your Personal Spiritual Ladder March 12, 2010 12:00:00 am Spiritual growth and personal evolution are the purpose to which slumbering consciousness awakens. Senses deadened from our long sleep in physical matter slowly give way to the nudges and tickles from the universe itself to awaken. Slowly but surely we emerge into that half-awake yet still half-asleep state of our early morning risings. This awakening I am now describing is not just to start a day. This awakening is to start a new life where our emerging consciousness becomes aware of more and more possibility.
Let\'s Get Down to Earth With Mundane Astrology - The Planets March 10, 2010 12:00:00 am The popularized form of astrology found in newspaper and magazine columns as well as on thousands of online websites can be considered introductory material. Since astrology covers all of human and worldly experience as potential subjects, the actuality of astrology is broader and deeper than sun-sign astrology. To initiate an understanding of astrology there is no better place to begin than with individual human experience, the generalities that are addressed in sun-sign astrology.
Astrological Choices - What Kind of Astrologer Will You Choose Or Choose to Be? March 08, 2010 12:00:00 am In any human issue category there is a huge number of service providers to choose from and astrology is no exception. Just put any category title into a search engine and you can get thousands or even millions of possibilities. On a moment of curiosity I just Googled my own name and got 4,120,000 entries. I had no idea I was that popular (me and every other name like mine). This staggering amount of information is so far beyond anyone\'s ability to research just one item meaningfully. Just how do you determine quality within such enormous quantity?
Metaphysics 101 - The Mountain of Spiritual Growth March 05, 2010 12:00:00 am Frequently metaphysical growth and progress are described as climbing a spiritual mountain. This brings to mind some interesting questions. Is this spiritual mountain personal and individual or is the spiritual mountain a collective? Are you alone in this journey and quest? Does your individual effort in any way affect others?
Neptune Drives America\'s Spirituality - Do We Dream an Impossible Dream? March 03, 2010 12:00:00 am At the time of America\'s Declaration of Independence a new country was birthed, conceived from the frustration of the existing foreign governing conditions of that time and the need for personal liberty of our Founding Fathers. These men were tradesmen, farmers, and townsmen who were never trained in warfare or self-governance. They were driven by an internal dream.
Astrological Choices - Why Do You Want to Learn Astrology? March 01, 2010 12:00:00 am As I enlarge this series on Astrological Choices I want to discuss the choices of an astrologer as to why you want to study astrology in the first place. Are you learning astrology out of simple curiosity, nothing serious, just having fun? That is as good a reason as any. Are you learning astrology for the purpose of self-help, understanding yourself and your life better on multiple levels?
Metaphysics 101 - Tickling You Awake - A Ripple Through Your Unconscious February 26, 2010 12:00:00 am Who am I? What is life all about? Is there purpose to life? Where am I in the scheme of the Cosmos? These and millions of similar questions are contained within man\'s search for meaning. An ant doesn\'t particularly care about its place in the scheme of things. It just is and does. Man is not like that; man is reflective in nature. We need to know so we ask. To me philosophy is the totality of man\'s yearning and searching, all his questions, all his processes, all his answers and conundrums.
America - Independent and Futuristic - The USA Aquarius-Uranus Theme February 24, 2010 12:00:00 am Three astrological themes repeated strongly throughout my research conducted last year on the USA country and presidential sky maps. One was a spiritual theme represented by the USA Neptune with 29 of 43 presidents connected to the USA spiritual energy pattern. A second theme was the powerful communication for good or for ill represented by the Mercury/Pluto opposition in the USA sky map with 29 of 43 presidents connected. The third and strongest theme was that of Aquarius and/or Uranus connections, the subject of this article.
Astrological Choices - Can You Tell the Difference Between Good Guys and Bad Guys? February 22, 2010 12:00:00 am Is astrology a predictive system that can separate the good guys from the bad guys at the moment of every entity\'s birth? Personally I don\'t think so and I have been at this study since 1973. However, that is the demand on astrology voiced by skeptics and nay-sayers over many years. Not even our scientists, philosophers or religious leaders presume to know those kinds of answers so why should astrology rise or fall on the reading skills of a single person?
Metaphysics 101 - Asleep, Awakening, Awake - Where Are You? February 19, 2010 12:00:00 am Mother Earth is like a great big schoolhouse. Think of that beautiful picture taken by our early astronauts of the gorgeous and multi-colored earth hanging in the blackness of outer space. Now perch a bright red schoolhouse roof atop that view of the Earth and you will see life and living as I see it. We reside in a school of life.
We Are the World, We Are the Children - A True Story February 17, 2010 12:00:00 am The recent re-make of the recording "We are the World, We are the Children" with an amazing ensemble of singers was recently released. While very different from one another, both recordings are very well done. However, as with all things human, there is bound to be controversy. The first recording was for African aid and the second recording is for Haitian aid. These inspirational renditions help to keep us aware of our humanity and that we each are our brother\'s keeper. But in my experience they have done far more as Universal Consciousness uses sound to awaken the sleepers, as if God spoke and the sound itself created. There is now a new sound. Is it possible there is a new awakening?
Astrological Choices - Chart Wheels - Rigid Or Floating Tropical Houses February 16, 2010 12:00:00 am Earlier in this series on Astrological Choices I wrote about the use of equal or unequal tropical house systems. The choice of wheel style is another choice that is made early in the study of astrology perhaps at a time when the student does not understand what they are choosing. There are many possibilities for style. Some you may feel quite comfortable with but there are those formats that may cause vague discomfort to you when you attempt to read a chart.
Metaphysics 101 - The Sea of Consciousness February 12, 2010 12:00:00 am When you are studying a deep subject such as philosophy or the evolution of consciousness, any explanation that cuts to the heart of what you are studying and reduces it to simple terms is very welcome. I prefer to use analogy and/or metaphor. As we study this series on metaphysics I will continually refer to humanity as being asleep in matter within a Sea of Consciousness.
America\'s Communication Quandary - Our Mercury-Pluto Opposition February 10, 2010 12:00:00 am Currently we are experiencing a tremendous dilemma in our country, the misuse of communication and information. Americans are reeling under the impact of revealed political improprieties, manipulation of emotion and nationalism, misinformation, misdirection, invasion of privacy and more to the point of absolute confusion. Who did this and when?
Metaphysics 101 - Just What is the Study of Spirituality and Personal Evolution? February 05, 2010 12:00:00 am The study of metaphysics is a mystery to some, religious anathema (blasphemy) to some, a salvation or a way of life to some, or a path to personal growth and consciousness to others. I find it ironic that the word anathema in Greek originally meant \'something lifted up as an offering to the gods\' and in modern times it means its equivalent opposite. Translation and continuing use of words through the centuries tends to do that.
Astrological Choices - Predictive Techniques - Beyond the Natal Chart February 04, 2010 12:00:00 am The best teaching tool and initial application of astrology is the natal (birth) wheel, which to me the most important of all the astrological tools. Why? If you are able to understand yourself in a continuing and deepening fashion, to me that is the most important use of astrology.
Astrological Choices - There May Be Some Wheels You Cannot Cast Or Read February 01, 2010 12:00:00 am Most astrologers or students believe that once they master the basics of astrology they will be able to construct and read every wheel, every time. As a professional astrologer and teacher, I can tell you this is not always true. There will be moments when we encounter a pattern that stumps our ability to either construct or to read the map. Our momentary inability has nothing to do with the success or failure of astrology in general or that wheel in particular.
Social Conditioning Can Influence Our Personal Perspectives January 29, 2010 12:00:00 am Fate or free will is a continuing conundrum in human society as is the philosophical rhetoric about evolution or creationism. I am going to tackle both in this article. Why? When studying a subject that has a prophetic nature, fate or free will is a central point. When studying the cosmos as your field of possibilities, it is natural to wonder how it all came about.
Astrological Choices - Methods and Techniques For Reading the Wheel January 27, 2010 12:00:00 am Once you have learned the basics: planets, signs, houses and aspects, and have set the wheel into a readable format, the best part of astrology comes to the table, how to read a wheel. I would love to say there is one correct way to do this, set in concrete, signed by deity, but that is just not true. As always, there are multiple choices for wheel reading, which fit nicely into our series on astrological choices.
Unconscious to Conscious - Discovery of New Planets January 25, 2010 12:00:00 am In the Sumarian civilization, the knowledge of the circular nature of the planet and the solar system was known as proven by a relic, an actual Akkadian seal from the third millennium B.C. For some reason only seven bodies in the inner part of the solar system including the Sun (the star around which the system orbits) were used in classical astrology. Those were the bodies that were visible to ancient man\'s naked eye observations. The main body of astrological teachings and information were based on those seven bodies. In recent years the discovery of new bodies started slowly and accelerated to thousands per month.
Personal, Cultural and Generational Planets January 22, 2010 12:00:00 am When a budding astrologer (or very interested fan) starts to delineate (read) sky maps, they discover that some parts are very easy to understand and other parts are more difficult. This is probably a true statement of just about any subject you might choose. However, astrology has so many parts that can be read so many different ways, it is always good to have helpful hints to simplify any part of it. In this article I am going to attempt to simplify the readings of the ten planets through a classification system sometimes referred to as a hierarchy.
Evaluating Your Own Memory - Be Fair to Yourself January 20, 2010 12:00:00 am The ability of humans to retain prodigious amounts of information always amazes me regardless of subject matter. Some humans are like computer data storage banks for information ranging from pre-selected or pre-set as occurs in autism and similar mental conditions, to numbers, to music, to languages, to calendar dates, to sports statistics and all points and subjects in between. Our scientists, physicists, mathematicians, doctors and lawyers are obvious examples of professions that require superior memories. Some examples are not so obvious.
Astrological Choices - Major Planets, Minor Planets, Comets and Asteroids January 18, 2010 12:00:00 am Continuing with our Astrological Choices series, we will now explore the choice of physical objects to both study and include in the reading of a chart. Most students of astrology (and we are all students) are amazed at the wealth of scientific information our astronomers are discovering. Astrologers welcome the opportunity to study and develop new meanings and applications for these discoveries.
Cornerstones of Astrology - Planets, Signs, Houses and Aspects January 15, 2010 12:00:00 am Reading charts is the unconscious goal of everyone who studies astrology even if they don\'t realize it. You can pick up any beginners book or astrological magazine and read what others have written about the various parts of astrology. What most are wishing to achieve personally is the ability to look at wheel and decipher what it says and what it means. That takes some personal effort, a good memory and time.
Astrological Choices - Personal Sensitive Points - Midheaven, Ascendant, Nodes January 13, 2010 12:00:00 am The Midheaven, the Ascendant and the Lunar Nodes are all very important to the reading of a chart. These are not physical objects; they are usually empty intersection points in space. These are primary influences in any astrological sky map. By the very fact that they are intersection points only they are quite different than the physical bodies (the planets) with which they are usually grouped. It stands to reason that since they are different, they might need to be treated differently, have different orbs of influence or be read differently for any sky map.
Astrological Choices - Astrological Lore, Its Relevance and Practioners January 11, 2010 12:00:00 am Astrology is an amazing body of information handed down through numerous generations for literally thousands of years. Through several millenniums astronomy (the measure) and astrology (the interpretation) were one body of information. What started as a combination, with the two sciences treated as one, lasted until fairly recently (the last 300 years or so).
Astrological Choices - Age of Aquarius - When, Where, Why and How January 08, 2010 12:00:00 am "When the Moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter aligns with Mars..." the words from the song Aquarius about the coming of the Age of Aquarius performed by the singing group The Fifth Dimension grabbed our attention more than 20 years ago. While I love the song and frequently sing it at the top of my lungs, astrologically it doesn\'t say much, it is just fun. There is so much controversy about the Age of Aquarius and when it should begin that I thought a discussion was in order...
Cultural Evolution - The Pluto-Neptune 500 Year Cycle January 06, 2010 12:00:00 am So much of our time as astrologers is spent on personal application of astrology as natal and predictive charting. We have a variety of tools to choose from, such as progressions, directions, transits, planetary returns, eclipses and lunations. We can lose sight of those larger, longer cycles which describe and influence the actual evolution of human society and culture and even broader in scope to include the development and experience of our world and all of its species. Astrologically those cycles are defined in time and meaning by the conjunction between the outer planets.
Astrological Choices - Major and Minor Aspects January 04, 2010 12:00:00 am There is so much to study and to read astrologically that it is helpful to know what you need to develop up front and what can wait for another day. Aspects are key to a good astrological reading but with so many aspects to choose from, some quite obvious, others more obscure, is there a natural sequencing? Here is a simple explanation of aspects along with a triage of which aspects to focus on early in your studies and those aspects that can be developed at a later time.
Aspects Out of Context - Looking at the Bigger Picture December 30, 2009 12:00:00 am One of the problems with reading astrological charts is that there is a tendency to take some items - aspects in particular - out of context. We focus on the present and the future so diligently that we can miss the tremendous influence of the past on what we are reading.
Astrological Choices - Equal and Unequal House Systems December 28, 2009 12:00:00 am As a study astrology can be a complex proposition that offers multiple choices in many areas. Each of us is unique with differing values, upbringing, education and experience that influence our personal perspectives. While it is good to have choice it is also good to have a basic grasp of the principles involved in such choice. That is the purpose behind this series of articles on Astrological Choices.
The Teacher Has Arrived - Saturn Has Taken Up Residence in Libra December 17, 2009 12:00:00 am I don\'t know if you\'ve noticed, but it is tough going out there in our world. We have been caught in the battle of the behemoths as Saturn and Uranus played cosmic tug of war with our whole world playing monkey in the middle. This is an ongoing process, one that will eventually conclude itself next summer; but in the meantime, so many are feeling a bit battered by the process whether that be an individual, a company, a country, or the world. Saturn has just changed its orientation temporarily, but don\'t be fooled Saturn is still in opposition to Uranus. Saturn has moved into Libra and a whole new lesson has opened for us... and the teacher is in the building.
Astrological Choices - What Can Be Charted? December 15, 2009 12:00:00 am In previous articles I began simple explanations for understanding astrological charting. My overall intention is to slowly but surely identify the basics of astrology charting so that anyone can understand it. I have already explained the difference between Tropical and Sidereal Astrology (western and eastern) and Geocentric and Heliocentric Astrology.
USA 2008 Election, Part 1 - The Country\'s Call For a Leader November 09, 2009 12:00:00 am Any natal star map is not a static object even though it appears to be just that and that is also true of any other birth. It is simply the map of a moment, a freeze-frame of the sky with that stillness for the purpose of seeing the patterns clearly because the sky never truly stopped in its motion.
Why Aquarius-Uranus Drives the USA - America\'s Path to the Future November 14, 2009 12:00:00 am Curiosity can reportedly lead to trouble, but when an intellectual itch gets to work it can develop interesting insights. I have never been particularly politically motivated but I do get curious over the various events that happen to our country, particularly the election and the following inauguration process.
Astrological Choices - Heliocentric Versus Geocentric Readings December 05, 2009 12:00:00 am Astrology like many human fields of endeavor has an amazing array of choices, possibly as many choices as there are humans to make those choices. Humanity is a distinct group of individuals, each with opinions, preferences, philosophies and personal slants to their thoughts, each firmly convinced their own position is right and ready to slay the dragon of opposing or conflicting thought. In a previous article I outlined the difference between sidereal (eastern) and tropical (western) astrology and that both systems belong at the smorgasbord table that is astrology. This article we will look at the heliocentric and the geocentric systems, again knowing that each has its value and each belongs at that same table of astrological choices.
Unmasking the Mystery - The 12th House of the Horoscope December 02, 2009 12:00:00 am Recently I have seen several online astrology articles with multiple approaches to the reading of the 12th house. Some of those articles were quite good, but some left me questioning whether the general basics of the 12th house were fully understood. It is truly not one of the easier houses to understand and read. This article will take you back to basics, 12th house basics, and all remarks will be based on the Tropical Placidus system. First of all, what are astrological houses?
Trining and Succeeding - A New Direction For America, The Future Beckons December 01, 2009 12:00:00 am An unusual dilemma sits at the astrological heart of our USA presidential inauguration date. Originally, 233 years ago, Election Day was set for the first week in November. March 4th of the year following an election was chosen by the Founding Fathers as Inauguration Day. The four month gap was not an unusual choice because the times and travel were daunting for winners of all federal elections, for those who were taking the oath of office as well as for the sitting and incoming Congress and those administering and witnessing those oaths.
It Was in the Stars - The Execution of Serial Killer John Muhammad November 21, 2009 12:00:00 am On November 10, 2009 at 9:11 PM at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarrett, Virginia, John (Wllliams) Muhammad met his destiny -- a lethal cocktail injection. Muhammad was the adult leader of the team termed by the media as the Beltway Snipers. The other team member was imprisoned teenager John Lee Malvo. The pair had terrorized the Washington D.C. area for 20 days in October 2002 with random sniper attacks on total strangers. As close as I can tell it is not truly known if expertly trained Muhammad actually fired the shots personally, but he developed the system, the means, the method and the weapon. He turned a teen boy with a bad case of hero worship into a deadly serial sniper. Muhammad then directed his weapon (Malvo) to his deadly game of hunting unsuspecting and innocent citizens of the area, spreading fear, terror, and abject sorrow over a three week period. The indicators for fame or infamy in Muhammad\'s astrological chart illustrate his demise in infamy as he became an unfortunate footnote to history.
2012 - Doomsday Or Hysteria? Is it the End of the World As We Know it? November 19, 2009 12:00:00 am This has been one heck of a week for the doomsday version of 2012. While there have been programs and presentations over many years (I\'ve seen several of them), last week the entertainment industry outdid itself, speculating bigger, glitzier, and scarier.
Astrological Choices - Sidereal or Tropical Systems November 17, 2009 12:00:00 am As with most other human endeavors, astrologers don\'t always keep it simple. There are so many choices for charting, so many techniques and pet theories that it can be difficult to thread your way through the labyrinth of possibilities. Of the people who do believe in Astrology both systems have their adherents, both have their detractors. Do we have a dilemma here? Is one system right and the other not? Are both right? A simple definition of the difference between the Sidereal and Tropical systems should help.
USA 2008 Election, Part 2 - The Winning Presidential Team November 11, 2009 12:00:00 am In a previous article, USA 2008 Election: the Country\'s Call for a Leader, I examined the needs and desires of the USA itself for the 2008 election. In this article I want to illustrate how President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and their leadership team contribute to the needs of the country at this time in history.
Massacre at Fort Hood, Texas - Astrological Analysis of the Massacre Chart November 06, 2009 12:00:00 am Yesterday afternoon seemed so innocent enough until I turned on the news about 4 pm. The horror of a mass shooting underway at Fort Hood, Texas erupted on my television screen. The chaos produced by such a horrifying event evaporated as authorities asserted control, locked everything down, out, in, every direction known to man in an attempt to stop the killing, find the perpetrator(s), help the victims, supply the media with information, and more.
A Personal Journey of Six Jupiter Returns November 03, 2009 12:00:00 am This is the year in which I am experiencing my 6th Jupiter Return. I\'m really getting a handle on experience. My window on the past is getting bigger and bigger, my brain is still working, my eyesight and hearing are just fine, and I can report factually on what it is like to experience six Jupiter returns.
2009 Nobel Peace Prize Winner - President Barack Obama, Was it in His Stars? October 30, 2009 12:00:00 am An astounding thing happened on Friday morning October 9, 2009. President and Mrs. Obama were awakened before dawn with the news that the President had won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. A very surprised president accepted the award, said he was humbled by the honor and by the august body of past winners. Instant political controversy brewed. Four U.S. presidents and one vice-president have received the Nobel Peace Prize, an amazing honor for these men and for their country. What can we see from the presidents individual charts to indicate such honor and what might the four have in common in their charts?
Mars - Upfront and Personal, War, Fear, and Terror October 29, 2009 12:00:00 am The world is in the grip of a terrible set of conflicts. As close as I can tell from a cursory study of world history, wars are common, as normal as such a thing can be, pervasive throughout history, but have become increasingly violent as war toys have developed over the centuries. The Mars of astrology and myth is a war god, assertive, aggressive, militant, heroic, muscular, dynamic, quick, all the positive masculine traits, all desired qualities for developing human independence from primitive conditions. What does astrological Mars and the world conflicts and terrorism have in common?
Where Do You Find Mom and Dad in a Chart? The Parental Axis October 28, 2009 12:00:00 am An area of astrological confusion lies in the parental roles of the 4th/10th axis of a chart. Authorities disagree and everyone has their own theory, but absolutes can elude us as we encounter exceptions to our own rules. I tried out many concepts myself over my years of study as I encountered the material of so many astrologers, but kept coming back to what was logical and could be easily proven through the normal working of the chart. My conclusions after so much trial and error became my reading and teaching tools because they made sense and were flexible enough to allow for the exceptions that I was sure to encounter.
Astrology - Look Back to See the Future October 27, 2009 12:00:00 am Astrology has been around for thousands of years. Some of our earliest records and artifacts are astrological/astronomical in nature because those who practiced those crafts, science and the art of interpretation, used both simultaneously. The science observed, measured, calculated, and kept copious and careful records. Astrology, as the art, interpreted and applied the "facts" that had been generated by the science. Our early wise men were both, scientists and artists; those who could measure and ferret out the details then apply that knowledge to the human condition and experience.
The Universe As a Map of a Personal Journey - Fate Or Free Will? October 26, 2009 12:00:00 am The cosmos is an absolutely beautiful canvas no matter where you are or which direction you look. For ancient man, it was his evening movie, his guide for travel, his calendar of seasons, and eventually the story of experience itself. IF you are paying attention, the universe offers itself as a map for charting experience. From the moment of birth of a person, an idea, a corporation or a country, a map is available. It is not a static map, it is a moving map, and the movement illustrates the journey of whatever was created in a moment of time.
Astrology - A Universal Map For Experience October 25, 2009 12:00:00 am Astrology is an ancient system handed down through succeeding human generations as a growing body of information to describe human experience. Once a single practice, the science of Astronomy measures and Astrology interprets, much to the chagrin of the Astronomers. The universe offers itself as a diagram for experience and a quick snapshot of a moving sky becomes a birth map. The continually changing sky becomes a map of the ongoing journey of the energy of that snapshot.
Crash of the Comet - Was Jupiter Changed? October 24, 2009 12:00:00 am If we hit a comet in the face will the comet return the favor? If a comet hits our planet and has an effect, do you suppose that a comet hitting another planet might also have an effect on that planet? If the Earth can be affected, any other planet should also be affected and size might not matter in this instance. If a planet is affected by such impact, could that in any way interrupt the flow of its energy, change the effect of its energy, or alter astrological readings based on that disrupted energy?
Relationships - An Astrological Look at Possibilities October 22, 2009 12:00:00 am When a client comes in for an astrology reading for what is current in their lives, one or more of three primary categories motivate them: health, money/career, and relationships. Oh there are lots more reasons for a reading, but those are the three biggies and accounted for probably 95% of the thousands of readings I did over my years as a professional astrologer. Now that I am retired, researching and writing, I get to examine the assumption in more detail and the concept holds true. In this article we will deal with relationships as we explore some of the various charts and techniques that are available to astrologers.
What Makes a Serial Killer a Serial Killer? October 23, 2009 12:00:00 am For over three years I have been conducting a study on the charts of serial killers. Why would I do that? I am a practicing healer and minister, a peacenik at heart and can\'t stand to watch anyone or anything get hurt. What would you do, however, if a book appeared in the air in front of you, title, cover, chapters, content and all, in a split second? I researched astrologically and biographically, was blessed with qualified research assistants, developed over 200 studies, read individual charts but have not developed a firm conclusion; this is still a work in progress.
When Was the Declaration of Independence Really Signed? October 19, 2009 12:00:00 am There are several charts to choose from for the birth of the United States of America (USA). Many qualified astrologers from all walks of life and all parts of the globe have put their best efforts forth to determine the correct chart for the USA. We were born in conflict and that is why our birth was called the Revolutionary War. War seems to be our history and experience, including declaring the potential for war at the time of our birth.
Strange Behavior From Jupiter and Neptune October 15, 2009 12:00:00 am The Jupiter/Neptune conjunction presently in the sky should be a source of imagination and inspiration, a harbinger of creativity and progress. From the personal experiences related to me recently, this union has been anything but nice. Why? Defining Jupiter, Neptune and conjunction in both their positive and negative connotation can help clarify the dilemma and as will examining this dynamic over the full period of its effect, direct, retrograde, and direct... and retrograde and direct again... and then there seems to be a shadow effect.
Messing With the Moon - Stirring the Emotions October 14, 2009 12:00:00 am In our desire to expand our horizons and humanity\'s footprint, we launch our rockets and seek out new experience. We make great strides in human achievement, have occasional disasters, but perhaps some things are better left alone or contemplated more carefully before the fact. When we reach out and become up close and personal with never-before-experienced objects in outer space, we need to think about potential unexpected results.
Destiny\'s Children - The Three Kennedy Brothers October 07, 2009 12:00:00 am The Kennedy family is an American dynasty of individuals dedicated to public service, the closest to a royal family possible within our political framework. Destiny seems to have called this family, particularly the three Kennedy brothers: John, Robert, and Edward, the three as Senators, one as Attorney General and one as President. Astrologically we will explore the charts of the three brothers compared to the USA chart to understand that call of destiny to these three extraordinary Americans.
Political Astrology Does Work October 07, 2009 12:00:00 am Anything born in a moment of time reflects the energies present in that moment of time. It does not matter if that "anything" is a person, an animal, an idea, a corporation, or a country. Astrologers construct a map of that moment and its energy pattern. This is termed a natal (birth) chart. That chart is considered a map of the potential of whatever it represents and with a little skill, the inherent character of the entity represented by that chart can be revealed. The non-human entity we call the USA has a birth chart just as a human being does and we can use that map to describe the embryonic country and its potential.
My USA Chart of Choice October 07, 2009 12:00:00 am How do you determine the correct chart for the birth of the USA? There are so many possibilities for charts with so many expert rectifications, you can get dizzy trying to wend your way through them. Intelligent, articulate, skilled astrologers over the centuries have put forth their best efforts.
