Wisconsin's Bratwurst Tradition In Wisconsin, bratwurst is a favorite food for tailgating, picnics, fairs, holidays, baseball, football and any other time with the possible exception of when we are under a winter storm advisory. Even in the dead of winter groups will be out in front of stores frying out and selling brats (short for bratwurst) for a fund raiser. Great article, Febe! Really captures the truth about Sheboygan and the "Wurst City of the World." Especially liked the emphasis on how to cook a brat and the fact that the taste changes if you do not cook it slowly on an open grill! Most people are unaware and ruin them . . . turning them into "just another sausage." UGH! You go. . . . keep on writing!
