Guys NEVER EVER EVER GET YOUR WIFE AN APPLIANCE. For reasons we (men) can not fathom this is the worst gift idea for a woman. I too shared the author's rational, but real world experience has taught me that this is an absolute don't and may lead to tears of sadness.
