Subject: Finding #3 Incomplete?

I feel like finding #3 is incomplete and that the suggested response to this finding may be throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I would argue that a teams decision making ability only gets worse BEFORE it gets better. A fairly new team, as you said, does not have to factor in relational issues in decision making. And I agree that some teams will respond to relational pressures more than they should. But, the strongest teams are the ones who moved past those relational roadblocks and have come to a point where their business decisions have little to no effect on their friendships.

Some of the strongest teams I have worked on and with have been trusted each other enough that their friendships were not based on their business opinions.

With all this said I will agree. A strong team is rare and the drinks after work don't solve the problem. You are right, most team building budgets are being wasted. The problem is most of the time we know we want the strongest team but we have no idea how to get there.
