When Does the Age of Aquarius Begin? Will the Age of Aquarius begin on a certain day, or a year? How will we know we have made the transition? Astronomers disagree on the exact time that humanity will transition from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, but this will not be event that happens overnight. Each age is 2160 years long, and the transition between ages occurs over a period of 100 years or so. Discover more not only about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, but what it means for humanity. Subject: Age of Aquarius comment Hi Marilyn, thanks for your comments. In western astrology we are working with the "tropical" zodiac which is a symbolic system that assigns 30 degrees to each sign. The signs are named after the constellations, but they are not the constellations. It takes one "great year" for the signs to "precess" through the zodiac, and this "great year" is APPROXIMATELY 25,860 years, which brings down to about 2160 years per sign. These are not precise numbers. I hope this helps! Lynn Comment provided November 12, 2009 at 7:51 am

Subject: expanded comment Thank you so much. I believe you're right about approximate, but from my research on this I'm not convinced that each age is exactly equal in length. If that is remotely possible it could change the way we look at the Ages and the years of effect. If I'm remembering correctly Pisces is 19 degrees wide and Virgo is 41 degrees wide, 19 and 41 equal 60 (two 30˚ signs as an axis). Possible? I love conundrums! You are very good explaining and very factual. Outstanding. Comment provided November 12, 2009 at 12:20 pm

I really enjoyed this article, you did your homework and really explained it quite well. I also write/teach this subject, so I'd ask you to entertain a thought that took me in a different direction. It is not written anywhere (than I can find) that each age is equal in duration (2160 years), The constellations are of varying size. What if each age matched its constellation for duration. That does fit the apparent inequality of human experience. Just a thought. I truly did enjoy this article. Regards,
