A number of West Virginia and national conservation groups are supporting the effort to save this squirrel -- recently announcing our intention to sue the government to put it back on the list where it belongs. We're hoping, though, to avoid going to court and we're confident we can work this out with the Obama administration -- as it was Bush who put the squirrel in danger in the first place.
This squirrel is actually a very important species, in addition to being one that's really fun to watch. It's running out of habitat due to global warming and other factors, so it provides a snapshot of life on earth -- including our own.
