What Ever Happened to Manners?

Whatever happened to parents teaching their children manners? The idea of manners has become a lost phenomenon in today's society. In our household as a child it was a requirement to respond to your elders with "Yes Sir & Yes Mam." If you didn't you got that look from your parents as though you were some alien from another planet.

It is good when we can go back to some of the grass roots principles that were once a given in all American homes. Being cut from the same cloth, I believe that manners serve us well, and will take us far in life. Thank you for so eloquently and thoughtfully expressing this foundational standard.
