Vogue Editor Calls an End to Size Zero Models Don't ask me how I missed this one but recently Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman has been hailed as "hugely brave" after calling out leading designers who force fashion magazines to have to use size zero models. She said that the clothes created by designers for the catwalk which were then sent to magazines as samples for photo shoots had become substantially smaller and minuscule and that Vogue now had to retouch photographs to make the models appear larger and by larger I'm guessing she means more healthy looking. Subject: In response Thanks for the comment Nicole. I see where you are coming from and def. think that those sizes do get passed over when it comes to Fashion Week. But from a model stand point I see many "regular" sized woman on the runway for trade shows, in store fashion shows etc. while I (as a plus model) end up being the only plus model in the entire building. So it is more norm to see regular sized girls out in the industry. I would love to see more regular sized women in general to be used in the fashion industry more often. Subject: Vogue Editor Calls an End to Size Zero Models
In response to your very thoughtful and well written article regarding Vogue Editor Calls an End to Size Zero Models; I found that the article jumped from calling an end to the unrealistic zero sized model as "models" for women, to calling for plus sized models to be recognized, but what ever happened to being a regular sized person, size 6-10? I feel that one must find a middle ground or balance ,so to speak, in life in general. Why are we as a society swinging from one end of the pendulum to the other! From zero to plus!? Can we talk about a healthy, regular sized person who is neither under weight or over weight?
Sncerly, Nicole, Size 7-8 (sometimes 9 ;-))
