Subject: Tail Pipe

Great question. Water coming out of the tail pipe is normal during warm up. If it continues during a drive contact your local mechanic...Patrick O'Shea - Dallas, Texas

Perhaps you have antifreeze in your oil. This would cause the oil to thin, this would cause white smoke (steam) to come out the tailpipe.

Subject: steam from tail pipe

Hello, I have a 66 chev v/8 that is letting steam out of one of the tail pipes, also moisture on the oil filler cap, no evidence of moisture in the oil. It consumes a small amount of coolant between drives. What do you think, intake gasket, head gasket, crack in one head, cracked block all of above. where do you think I should start. I'm thinking of pulling the heads have them checked and see if I can see anything wrong with the block.
