The Universe As Living Organism I read the other day that astronomers have spotted a huge nebula in our galaxy in the shape of a double helix. I couldn't believe it so I Googled 'double helix in outer space' and sure enough there is a picture of it. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I wondered if anyone was thinking along these lines as it has been gnawing at me for some time now and whether or not we as humans, who think sooo much of ourselves and our accomplishments, weren't in fact simply parasites living off and inside a huge living organism, so tiny that the host doesn't even know that we exist. Given the facts that the human race is growing in size and stature, the earth is in fact expanding, the universe is expanding, the star of our solar system is growing into a red giant, tells me that we are growing along with our host. We feed ravenously on flesh, plantation, devour minerals, oil, trees, turn mountains into rubble piles stripping the precious whatever from the rock, dredge the oceans for meat and produce, leave piles of garbage behind, selfishly and greedily covet what is somebody else's, horde, store, war, let rot....puts me in mind of a parasite. Our sun is a life force driving the cycles of our small insignificant wee world within the host, the energy from the power within the sun drives our world around on its axis and generates the full gamut of wavelengths that we need to operate all the toys we have developed in the last little while. I wonder what all the parasites in my body are developing within their wee world inside me and what kind of worlds are living around single cells or flying around on blood platelets in my vascular system.....you laugh....so am I ..but...when you step outside the box and start wondering...what if our host decides to perform a parasite cleanse?
