Your article was fascinating. I wonder where you got your information on an alternate record of Atlantis. In your article you state, "Archeologists discovered Egyptian records detailing Atlantis, its ruling family and a utopian type culture." I would love to know more.
I agree with your statement that the location by Plato is vague, but not completely so. Just because so many fanatics claim to find Atlantis in their own back yard does not dilute what Plato did say on the subject of location. Beyond the Pillars of Herakles (Strait of Gibraltar), but near a region in Southwestern Spain called "Gadira." Most people miss that last reference from "Critias." Yet, it's crucial for understanding Plato's original intent. Hope this helps for your next Atlantis article.
