Subject: Gaming PC build priorities
I've been building gaming PC's for about 10 years now, and I'd like to add my opinions on how to shop for and built a gaming PC.
1.) Figure out what video card(s) you want first. This is the most important part of a gaming PC and money should not be skimped on this step. IMHO, nothing beats Nvidia.
2.) Figure out what power supply unit you need to support your video card(s). A list should be obtainable from the manufacturer of your chosen video card. Pay attention to how much current is offered on each +12V rail...THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. IMHO, nothing beats an Antec Signature PSU.
3.) If you want to go 32-bit with your system, see step 4, otherwise, see step 5.
4.) Buy 4GB of the best system RAM you can find and afford.
5.) Buy 8GB of the best system RAM you can find and afford.
6.) Decide on CPU, motherboard and sound card.
7a.) BUY APPROPRIATE HEAT SINKS, FANS FOR YOUR SYSTEM!
or
7.b) Buy water cooling system.
8.) Use Arctic Silver to attach your CPU/GPU heat sink(s).
9.) Go hook everything up, and kick some butt!
