Sweet Treats From the Amish
By Linda Carol Wilson

There are many characteristics of the Amish. Growing up in Indiana I loved seeing them in their horse-drawn buggies but perhaps the best thing of all was getting Amish treats, especially at the holidays. Those Amish ladies know how to cook! We often intermingled, in fact the Amish built my family home. Getting their recipes was always a treat. Here I share with you a few of those recipes.

I followed the recipe given in the above article for the cake and it overflowed while baking and was clearly not done after 30 minutes. Should the batter have been divided into 2 8 inch pans? If so the recipe should state as such. It clearly states "bake in A greased 8-inch layer pan for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Sorry for the problem. There was a typo and the cake should be baked in 2 (two) 8-inch pans. Again, our apologies for your wasted time and ingredients. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
