Can a person ride inside a 5th wheel while traveling? Thank you for any information you may have.

Subject: Purchasing a used RV

I would like your opinion about purchasing a used class c motorhome with 80,000 miles. I would probably never buy a used car with 80,000, but several people have told me that it is different with an RV. I don't want to put a lot of money into the possible repairs and/or to rebuild an engine. Is this a good buy? Thanks.

Subject: TV interference in RV

I have a 2005 Crossroads Cruiser. I get lines across the TV screen that I think are coming from the power distribution panel/convertor. They look like the interference we wused to get from auto ignition systems. Causes all sorts of distortion. Is there something I can do to block this? Filters, etc.? Ron

Subject: What Truck buy and what 5th wheel?

I am brand new to the RV world. Have enjoyed camping for years, but always outdoors or in a tent. I am 53 now and my wife and I are looking into purchasing a new truck, and a used 5th wheel. I have done a fair amount of investigating on the web and talking to folks who have RVs. My main concern is what truck to buy? Most have told me to go with the old reliable 3/4 ton GM or Dodge. But, I am one of those guys who keeps his vehicle forever. I do not want to purchase a truck that is cumbersome to drive all over town, and will double as a family vehicle as well. My wife will be driving this thing half the time each day as well. So, comfort and ease of handling are an issue.

What I like is the Titan, or Tundra. The model I would like to get will have four doors and most likely a short bed. What I am hoping for is that one of these has enough of what it takes to haul a 5th wheel RV.

Some of the things I have leaned are: A short bed will be cause for a sliding hitch.

The Titan and Tundra do not have enough power or weight to handle the larger 5th wheel RVs. And that is OK, I will just get a smaller version.

I do intend on renting a 5th wheel RV after I have purchased the truck to get a feel for things.

I guess what I am looking for is just some sound advise. If I should purchase one of these trucks, what kind of limitations do you think I will encounter?

I appreciate your time. Thanks paul

Subject: Paul's question re 5th wheel

Depends on the size of the 5th wheel. A 25 to 32 foot 5th wheel would require a one ton truck. We had a 38 foot 5th wheel and a Dodge 1 ton, it was wonderful. A friend had a 28 ft 5th wheel and a 3/4 ton truck. The truck broke down and he ended up paying quite a bit to get it fixed to trade in on a 1 ton.

I, the female, drove the 1 ton Dodge dully many times and it handled like a dream, 5 speed. Even took my driver's test in it and passed with flying colors.
