I agree that there are certainly many benefits to distance education, including flexibility that allows many people to obtain a degree who might not otherwise be able to do so. However, it is important to recognise that there are also challenges to online or distance education. Students can feel isolate, miss out on important aspects of the university experience (including learning team work and benefitting from the input of other students), and sometimes have trouble accessing the university's resources, like the library or learning centres. While distance and online education is fantastic, it needs to develop further before it could be considered 'just as good' as attending in person.
