Nikon D3000 Takes the Place of the D40 and D60 - How Does the Nikon D3000 Compare to the D5000?

The Nikon D40 and D60 have ruled the Nikon roost in the entry level DSLR category for a long time in digital camera years. They have been wildly popular among camera buyers entering the DSLR market. Now Nikon is retiring these popular brands in favor of their newest entry level camera, the Nikon D3000. How does this new camera compare to the recently released Nikon D5000?

Wayne, while I'll agree there is little difference in the sensor SIZE, one important difference to note is the D3000 has the CCD, and the D5000 has the CMOS sensor, which provides MUCH better sensitivity (and grain/noise) at much higher ISOs, giving you much more flexibility when shooting in low-light situations. Its worth the extra $150 alone.
