Subject: grades have nothing to do with intellect and everything to do with attitude School is not about what you learn it is about your level of responsibility. Do you have the discipline to follow through? Can you mind the rules? Do you want to succeed? Standardized tests measure, equally, the performance of the teachers, the curriculum and the student's comprehension. These test can not measure whether or not that child did the assignments for the class, the homework, the projects and followed the rules of the school. Attitude and responsibility are the keys. When we can figure out how to test that then we can truly outstand our children's level of intelligence. Teachers, parents and tutors can only go so far then the kids have to DO IT. No one sit in their chair for them, no one can take the test, HAND in the homework, present the project for them. The grades they receive become about THEM. Can they be responsible? There is no way to standardize a students performance in class. The only factor we can measure equally is their level of comprehension. I have two kids that "test" very high but do not want to stay organized, disciplined, nor follow through with schoolwork. I have tried all the tricks and frankly I am exhausted. I know they are smart. They fully comprehend the subject. They do not fail the class they fail themselves by not doing what is excepted; class work, homework, projects. When they lie to me about homework, they are lying to themselves. The true test is life. If you can not live a responsible life does it really matter how smart you are.
