Mating Behaviour of Indian Wall Lizard Hemidactylus Flaviviridis (Ruppell) The Indian wall lizard Hemidactylus flaviviridis (Ruppell) was observed during mating and was found that the male shakes its body before mating and slowly approaches towards female, while female starts shaking its tail first, and then the upper half of body in response. The male was found to be mating from side of the female in a twisted fashion, by inserting its hemipenis at the cloaca of the female at the tail base, as female raises its tail slightly to facilitate mating. The act of mating took place for approximately 30 minutes. After mating, both uncoil and took a shape of "Y" for 7-10 minutes. [VIEW ARTICLE]Comments RSS Feed For This Article: |
