Masturbation - A Christian's Perspective
By Elvis Yeboah-Asuamah

A personal search through the Bible for a single reading on my topic-masturbation; I must say was a bit disappointing since I found none to my surprise. To me, I think the Bible's silence on the topic is a bit odd since it goes a long way to speak plainly on other sexual matters such as fornication, adultery and even sex with animals. Christ, in one of His teachings went beyond 'fleshly adultery' and pointed out adultery of the heart. (Matt. 5:28).

You did a wonderful job of writing this article. I have had questions about this subject and really no answers. I will ask my pastors to get their opinions. Also, please follow me on twitter- under kirkwork1 we are having a discussion on sexual sin and masturbation.

I am a Christian who struggles with this, is filled with the spirit and who speaks in tongues. I have been praying, listening, talking to others about this. What role do you think the Holy Spirit has with this situation?

The Bible is not silent on masturbation. It clearly advocates fleeing from appearance of evil in 1Thess 5:22. Also read Rev 21:27 and Galatians 5:19-21. I do not think the Bible needs to be more graphic...the Holy Spirit ministers through the conscience as well. Christians must bear the fruits of the spirit and can not sit on the fence on issues as this.
