Thank you for this article. We are facing this with our two 16 1/2-year-old dachshunds; while we know all this rationally, it's very hard to figure out "the right time." "You'll know," everyone says, but I'm not sure that's exactly correct. Meanwhile, we are exhausting ourselves to try to make sure they are OK. Sigh.
