I had my 1973 Harley FLH stolen out of my garage in Red Oak, Ia around the early 1980s. We had a damaging hail storm in our town and construction crews were in town repairing roof damage. I was lazy and did not have the garage door closed so it was easy for the thief to steal it. Needless to say I was devastated by the loss of my motorcycle. I did recover my Harley a few months later as it was found in a trailer court in Sioux City, Ia. by the police. The thief had ground off the serial numbers on the motor but using acid the police discovered the serial number and I was contacted and a friend and I picked the Harley up at the police station. My next Harley was a red 89' springer and I kept it in the garage but I locked the garage door and put a padlock on the walk in door. Take good care of your Harley!
