Is High Octane Gasoline Worth the Cost? I get questions from people asking me about octane ratings. They want to know if high-octane gasoline will give them better mileage. They seem to think that because it is more expensive that it must be better. [VIEW ARTICLE]Comments RSS Feed For This Article: |

Subject: High octane fuel
I found using a higher octane fuel has benefits. Higher grade fuels have added cleaners to keep the injector and combustion chamber clean and burning efficient.
Newer fuel injected vehicles can and will adapt to higher octane fuels and produce better performance ,and better fuel economy . Vehicles will run better and smoother , injectors will run cleaner, O2 sensors will last longer, emissions will be cleaner.
Low grade fuels with low octane are a cheap fuel that provides the basics to run the vehicle at it's minimum performance levels. This is why we need to clean injectors, replace O2 sensors, etc.
The higher grade fuels are just a better alternative, with benefits far outweighing the costs.
