How to Make Traveling With Kids Fun Traveling with kids can be a bore or it can be fun. You must prepare yourself by making them a part of your trip. Let them make some of the decisions. Allow them to chose a destination, and help plan you trip. When packing, select some of their favorite items. When I plan a trip, I usually let my 7 year old make a list of all his favorite items that he like, and when shopping he gets to choose the items hisself. It helps him think that he is in control. This makes the trip easier because you now have happier kids and you would not have to hear any whining kids. Another important aspect is make sure you have a large enough cooler to carry cold drinks and snacks, because once they wake up for their nap, they are groggy and they will need something to tie them over until you reach your destination.
