Subject: Flying Squirrels I am not a pest control expert, but I would think that 19 gauge half by half inch wire would be good. I did a quick search on Google and found other references to people suggesting half by half inch to protect things. So that should be a good start. As for how far away to take them, people say a couple of miles, at least, if that is possible. Again, I can't confirm if this is actually true but many people say that. Subject: flying squirrels
My pest control company says I have flying squirrels in the attic. They get in from the construction gap between the roof and the fascia board that the gutter is attached to.
I have a couple of questions:
1. I have large rolls of hardware cloth that has a 1/2 by 1/2" square design and is made of 19 gauge galvanized wire. I plan to cover the gap with this material. Is it strong enough or will I need a heavier gauge? (I can't believe that they chew through 19 gauge wire??? Could grey squirrels chew though that gauge??)
2. What about the 1/2 by 1/2" opening...is that small enough to keep them out?
3. How far away should I take them after being trapped in my live traps?
