How to Deal With Impossible People
By Heyward Ewart, III, Ph.D.

One of the worst examples is the proverbial mother whose daughter is never permitted to please her. The mother communicates without words that it's your job to make me happy, but nothing you ever do will work. Some of these daughters develop anorexia as a result of feeling as an absolute failure in their only mission in life.

Subject: Not to play....

I grew up in a home with a mother/brother like this. I was taught to always please....it has cost me greatly. I married several times to men that both betrayed and used/abused me. I have just now reached a point in my life where I understand these types of people. I appreciate this article and like the way he bottoms lines it: Just do not play.
