Subject: Musical Theatre Demands

Thank-you for this article on Musical Theatre and ... the Belt! Wow - such drama over this term!

The old school of singing still has us terrified about producing certain sounds, but studies are showing that there are about as many classical singers that run into vocal problems as there are Broadway style singers. It always come back to producing the desired sounds in a safe or "safer" way. The truth is that singers who want to perform in Musical Theatre shows will likely be asked to sing with different approaches - including legit, belt, and mix styles. So obviously, these singers need to be guided in the right direction. Luckily, more and more voice teachers are waking up to this reality. ;-) All the best!
