Do We Really Need to Emigrate to Get a Better Life?
By Helen Winterbottom

I was recently catching up on some podcasts I've had sitting on the iPod for months and not quite got round to listening to. One particularly interesting one from way back on the 2nd of May 2008 was from the BBC's World Service Documentaries feed on iTunes. (anyone without iTunes can use the BBC World service website ), entitled Escape to New Zealand. The question is though: Do we really have to move to another country to change our lives?

Subject: Why emigrate?

Hi Helen, These are good questions, I'm glad you've given voice (writing?) to them. I think a lot of people have illusions that emigrating is just like going on holiday again. These simple questions really make you think about whether just moving to a different county, not country, would also achieve what you want. You may even get to keep your current job! thanks again
