Subject: Coleman liquid fuel stoves.
A nice article by Mr. Runion, but I would like to comment on a few of his negative points he brings up about the Coleman liquid fueled stove. I have had this very stove for over 25 years, and it is sturdy, built to last, and above all it is reliable. He says that it is not easy to set up... maybe he means it is not AS easy to set up as a propane fueled stove, and yes, you must pump the tank to pressurize it, about 15 seconds of easy pumping is all, which is not necessary with a propane bottle. I give mine about 35 easy pumps, takes all of about 15 seconds. I really don't see how these should even be mentioned as negative points about these stoves. In about 30 seconds you can have the stove open, the fuel tank pressurized, in position, and have the burner lit. If this is not easy for anyone out there, maybe you shouldn't be out camping in the first place. These stoves are amazingly simple and built for decades of reliable service. They are great to keep on hand in case of emergencies or power outages. I'm not certain that these liquid fueled stoves are even available anymore, but I'm very glad I have one, and would not want to be without it. Otherwise, a very nice article.
