I've yet to find a backpack that holds up for more than a year. More often than not, it's not the backpack itself, it's the straps that rip loose EVERY time...because of the heavy books. It's ridiculous how much money I spend on backpacks that don't last. My last one I bought online at REI, a Jansport heavy duty pack and spent about $50 on it. Two months ago, the straps ripped loose and my son duct taped it together. After multiple duct tape fixes, it's beyond fixing now...so I have to go out and buy another (that will undoubtedly fall apart as well).

There must be studies done with this heavy book load in mind, to make a better, stronger backpack. Do you know where I can find this out?

I would truly appreciate any help in this area.
