Subject: rental history

My husband and I are now trying to buy a house. We rented from an individual, and not knowing the proper process of building a rental history, did not save the receipts from the money orders we paid with. The only thing that is holding us up from being approved by the underwriter is sufficient rental history. Is there ANY way we can get the mortgage? Is there any other options to prove that we have been paying our rent on time?

Erika,

If the person you rented from deposited your rent to their bank account and would give you 12 months of bank statements to show those deposits, the underwriter MIGHT take that.

I don't know if there is some way to get a copy of a cancelled money order like a check but you might try to investigate that.

Sorry that is all I can think of that might help.

Jackie
