Buying a Car - Bait and Switch We've all heard of the guy who saw an advertisement on television for a great DVD player and when he got to the store, he just missed buying the last one. But oh yes, the store had another one quite similar but it cost more. That's called bait and switch and not only is it illegal, dishonest car dealers do this everyday. Here we took a look at how the bait and switch works so you don't fall victim to it. [VIEW ARTICLE]Comments RSS Feed For This Article: 2
Subject: Bait and Switch Actually Wayne, this article was ghost-written for us by the wife of the owner of a car dealership. (Hence the pen name.) According to her, this is good information. As a consumer, I have been on the receiving end of this type of "bait and switch" tactic. I did finally end up with the advertised vehicle, but it was after enduring a great deal of high pressure sales talk by more than one salesman to buy a different, more expensive car. I'm glad your dealership is one of the more honest ones. Unfortunately they are not all like yours. Thanks for your comment. Comment provided March 27, 2009 at 1:47 pm

Subject: Bait and switch
Boris, Advertising an entry level car at an extremely low price is not "bait and switch". The ad requires a stock number and if the customer acts quickly, the car will still be there. They are more than welcome to buy it at that price and rate if their credit is acceptable. I sell cars. I enjoy an educated customer. It makes my job easier. When they walk in the door EXPECTING to be taken advantage of instead of CONFIDENT they have done adequate research, it make selling nearly impossible. If this site wishes to use credible information from someone in the business, I will be happy to help. I won't use a "pen name" though.
