Subject: Parts warranty - who handles it?
Scott, interesting perspective. As I mentioned in one of my articles on this subject, if the customer supplied part fails (during the warranty period) the customer will have to pay the labor AGAIN and deal with the parts store to get the warranty replacement. If the repair shop supplies the part and the part fails, the shop will get the part replaced under warranty and of course NOT charge labor for changing it. Just think of the "parts" profit paid to the repair shop as a small premium for an inexpensive insurance policy.
