Thinking before claiming bankruptcy is a good idea, because your right, bankruptcy can follow you for a long time. It's even worse I think, for anyone middle aged and above because you may not have much credit showing in your history after the 10 year credit ding is removed; this will make lenders wonder what you've been up to the last 10 years. I agree with this article and suggest that people reading it should really weigh the alternatives of bankruptcy first.
