Ban on Smoking in Public Places in India Though the ban order on smoking in public places in India is a welcome measure, the order has many lacunas, like clear-cut definition of a public place, effective machinery or tool for implementation, meagre fine of Rs 200/- for the violators, no hard and fast rule for the collection of fine, existence of Tobacco board for promotion of tobacco trade etc.Certain clear-cut guidelines are necessary for the effective implementation of the ban order.Otherwise the ban will remain only on paper. Subject: ban has not been implemented
Hello sir,
I was very happy when I saw that government was banning smoking in public places.
But it has not been implemented anywhere in India.
I am staying in Bangalore which has the highest percentage of smokers. Every morning when I go to out at 9:30 am, there is always a smoker in front of me and also behind me.
Why can't the government implement this rule strictly and see to it that it is implemented in every nook and corner of India.
Something must be done for this, otherwise it will become a big danger for all the citizens of India.
