Subject: It happened to me.....
I'll tell ya first-hand....This is no scare-tactic or embellishment. In my case the perp was arrested in my home town. He gave my name. Not only did the police not question him (even though he had no ID)but since I had been arrested and booked when I was 18(dismissed and 6 years before)they just filled out his arrest sheet with information from my prior arrest. Even though he was 6 inches taller 80 pounds heavier, different colored hair and eyes, not to mention 6 years younger than I. I ID'd him myself while he was in custody under my name, but he was still released under my name (while he was a fugitive for attempted murder)I had warrants for over 10 years AND even though he was later arrested and tried for the attempted murder under his own name, that charge plus 5 other felonies were put on my criminal record because I was his ALIAS. Talk about a messed up situation. I haven't been able to get a decent JOB for over 12 years now and the County where it happened (El Paso,TX.)has not offered any compensation of course. So yeah, Criminal Identity Theft SUCKS!
