Subject: Army Service Numbers
A very useful article enabling me, when taken in conjunction with the information on my Uncle's Medal Card, to establish the date when he joined up and though the link to the 56th London Division his war service. All his other records appear to have been destroyed in the WW2 fire at the War Office. He would never talk about his wartime experiences and whenever I asked him he would say, "You don't want to hear about that." However, my mother (his twin sister) told me that he was gassed.
