This was an amazing article. I think you did bring a positive change into her life. Maybe she found the strength to get sober by watching you.Bless you for defending her instead of condemning......

Thank you for your comment. I often wondered what people thought when we wrote articles; if they liked them or not. I hoped that somehow I was a positive influence. However the credit belongs to Shelly for going through all of the physical pain and mental anguish of having people disregard her like she was trash. Because of Shelly, I learned that addictions are no respecter of persons. Give anyone the right crisis and they will fall, just like Shelly. I don't care how strong or self-righteous we all think we are. We are human, and that makes us all vulnerable!

Subject: Shelly

I thought this article was interesting. Shelly seems to have thought the world of the writer and they had a unique relationship. Living vicariously through the writer, Shelly grew into a new creature in Christ, and trusted that if she got sober, she would go to heaven to be with her mom. I love the way this writer loved Shelly for who she was, and not for what she wanted her to be.

Everyone is correct. Shelly learned to love me as a sister, and I loved her for her tenacity and dedication to be Shelly. She had a unique insight about people and life in general.
