401k Early Withdrawal Penalty - How to Avoid This Major Iceberg

There are some exceptions for when you won't have to pay this penalty. However, these tend to be for unique circumstances, such as death of the 401k plan participant, rolling the funds into a IRA or some other retirement account, a hardship, the participant has a qualifying disability, and a few others. It is a good idea to learn all the different exceptions to the early withdrawal penalty.

Subject: 401 penalties

I need to cashout my 401k due to hardship of losing a house, will this be considered without paying additional penalties. I'm not employed, it's a sitting 401k plan from previous work. Is this negotiable with the funding firm?
