- How Do I Certify My Service Dog?
[Pets:Dogs] In just about all cases, NO certification is needed for a service dog in order for it to have that designation. All you need is to have a disability as defined under disability law (check that if you're unclear about it), and for your service animal to assist you with tasks that are specific to your disability. The only questions you are ever required to answer are, "Is this a service dog?" and "What tasks does it do for you?"
- Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs - What's the Difference?
[Pets:Dogs] Does it really matter? For the person who owns or is considering owning one or the other, it makes a very big difference. And for anyone who wants to be a good neighbor, it makes a difference too.
- Facebook Ain't Google
[Internet-and-Businesses-Online:Social-Networking] Facebook recently opened up an entirely new world of target marketing but if you try to make it work like Google PPC you're going to get killed. Finding the right combination is going to be a tough egg to crack on Facebook but if you can the rewards are going to be huge.
- Therapy Dogs - Pawed Ambassadors
[Pets:Dogs] A therapy dog, with it's simple act of visiting hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes and schools provide comfort just by being there. Recently therapy dogs provided comfort to hundreds displaced by the wildfires in California. The mere presence of a dog uplifts people's spirits. People confined to hospitals and nursing homes appreciate the company of furry friends. Many animals add to the experience by performing tricks for the eager audience.
- How to Register a Service Dog or How to Scam the Disabled
[Pets:Dogs] I'm often asked how you register or certify your service dog, the answer is "You Don't". Companies that claim to register or certify your animal without training are simply taking advantage of the handicapped to make a dollar. In 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) went into effect which gives handicapped persons with service animals legal protection to be accompanied by the animal in public places.
