- The Real Reason I Do Not Have Muscles!
[Arts-and-Entertainment] In 1895 more Italians came into the port of New Orleans than into the port of New York. Thirty days to cross the ocean from Sicily after the steam engine. Five months before the steam engine. Three families in particular were on the boat. The Gallo family. The Marino family. The Bono family. They may not have been on the same boat.
- Never Let Circumstances Overwhelm You!
[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] Request more of yourself. Stay in charge of your own destiny. Do something. Pick up a broom, a mop, anything that makes you useful. Call someone tell them that you need a lift, to regain your self value.
- It is Impossible to Fake Success!
[Self-Improvement:Success] You are always successful. When you are not doing well, you are very successful at not doing well. Nobody gets up in the morning and says; "I think I will do my worst today!" Everyone is doing their best. Maybe it could be better if they would only try.

[Business:Entrepreneurialism] I worked for the Falstaff brewery in New Orleans for seven years in the quality control department. I would often get ideas and share them with the Superintendent of the can shop.

[Communications] Visuals enhance delivery. Always stand to the right of the visual unless you are left handed. Good eye contact is a very good method for delivery. Look at one person at a time. Stay with that person for ten seconds or longer. The entire audience will feel you are looking at them.

[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] People that write very good books know that they could sell 10,000 or more books if they really tried. They do not believe they could sell 10,000 or more books if they really tried. Whatever you can conceive and believe you can achieve.

[Self-Improvement:Techniques] I tried being sensible, the only thing I could get was construction work. I am not good at construction work. If I want to earn money, I have to make sure that I am not being sensible. Sensible does not work for me. It works for lots of people to be sensible.
- Go and Get Another One!
[Finance] When life gets tough, as it often does. Go and get another one. After all that is said and done, more will be said than done. Think you lost a sale? Go and get another one!
- Someone Believes in You!
[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] You will have to push others to help you, because you believe in them also. Never be the lone ranger. You know the story. The lone ranger tells Tonto; "Tonto, we are surrounded by Indians!" Tonto replies; "I am an Indian!"
- Only a Request of Yourself Creates Action!
[Self-Improvement:Motivation] Please ask more of yourself in everything you do. Think Big! When you think big, you will see big. When you see big, you will expect big. When you expect big, you will request big of yourself! Only a request of yourself creates action!

[Self-Improvement:Motivation] Laziness and procrastination are ways to prolong being humble. One way to back into success is to think like you did when you wanted your driver's licenses. For example I do not want to cut the grass; I just want to get dressed in my old clothes and put gas into the lawnmower and see if I can get it started.

[Business:Marketing] The first way to sell trust is listening to the market. The second way to sell trust is product knowledge. The market is starving for information. If you are not an avid listener, than you must come across as being an expert on what they want.

[Business:Workplace-Communication] When you focus on serving other people circumstances, you are filled with joy and great expectations to continue to serve. Do not tell anyone that you are serving. You cannot receive joy, if you receive credit. You must choose to get credit or joy. Joy is much better.

[Self-Improvement:Motivation] Before my parents decided to bring ten children into the world, they were thinking about it. Before Al Copeland decided to start his Popeye's fried chicken business, he was thinking about it.
- Tomorrow Is Going To Be Better!
[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] About half mile back in traffic was an old truck with lawnmowers rakes and shovels. A elderly gardener got out of his truck and walked up to where the crowd was gathered. He made his way through the people, looked over the side and said, "Hey, I got to go to work. Either jump or get off the bridge. If you decide not to jump, tomorrow is going to be better!"
- Change How You Think
[Business:Sales-Training] Only do what you get paid to do. You get paid to invite as many people as possible to experience your product or service. Remember you get paid for every yes and every no!

[Relationships] All three kinds of people are important. It is important to have players on the field. It is important to have spectators. It is also important to have people that wake up in the middle of the game and say; what is happening? You must be in the game to make good decisions. Life takes place in a decision. You cannot make the best decision watching the game. You cannot make the best decision sleeping.
- Everything Works, And Every Thing May Not Work
[Business:Advertising] It is so easy to get stuck in a routine and refuse to change. Life gets dull and we lull ourselves to sleep. It is a good thing that opposites attract most of the time. Not all of the time. Birds of a feather flock together. A philosophy that works for me and you today, may not work for someone else today or tomorrow. The most important word in marketing is change. Be ready to change how you invite people to experience your products or services. The market is always changing.

[Business:Sales-Training] Focus on the benefits of learning more about diversity. Our greatest gift is accepting each others uniqueness. The answers for your success are located in someone you do not like. You do not like them because you do not know them well enough. You do not like them because they are a lot like you. The more you like yourself, the more you will like other people.

[Home-and-Family] Just to be in my grandchildren's presence is such a gift. If I knew what I did right to have four perfect grandchildren, I would write a book and tell everyone just do it.

[Cancer:Skin-Cancer] I let little John use my computer. Little John was very smart. His Mother had him reading War & Peace when he was five years old. I owned a white Ford Van back then. Little John wanted to see my Ford van. I brought him to the parking lot to see my van. I raised him up in the front seat. He saw SRS on the steering wheel. He asked me if I knew what SRS meant. I said no.
- Mind Your Own Expectations!
[Business:Ethics] After the surgery the doctor asked him what was the first thing he wanted to see when the bandages were removed. The man said, my son and my fruit stand. The doctor and his son went down to his fruit stand on the busy street. The doctor began removing the bandages slowly. The man was so excited to see his son’s face and then the fruit stand. He was so filled with joy.
- Practice Every Moment Of Your Existence Keeping Your Expectations in Gear!
[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] Tell three people everyday how you really feel. Ask three people every day for what you really want.
- Finding Your Commitment to Yourself!
[Relationships:Commitment] I found out that you can not make people happy. Happiness must come from within a person. I could possibly please someone- however each person must want to be happy. I know someone that says over and over again. "You got to want to be happy!" He will ask you first- do you want to be happy? You must answer the question for him or he will persist in asking the question before attempting to please you.
- Get With The Program!
[Reference-and-Education:Languages] Be a person that makes things happen! There are only three kinds of people. People that make things happen. People that watch things happen. People that wake up and say; "What is happening?" A journey of a thousand miles always begins with one step.
- Your Health And A Piece Of Bread!
[Finance] I did volunteer work at the local Covenant House in New Orleans a few years back. A young man that had run away from home to the New Orleans French Quarter to live happily ever after was in my class room. He said, "Hey mister are you rich?" I replied to him - "well you first have to define rich." I have my health and I have food in my refrigerator at home. If you mean do I have money, well my wife Marie handles the money. She is a money manager. I am not sure how much she has saved for a rainy day.
- You Do Know That You Are In Charge Of Your Own Destiny!
[Reference-and-Education:Languages] I get to choose which way to go. All of nature has no choice. They are creatures of destiny. We as humans can be in charge of our own destiny if we want to be. A fun thing to reduce stress is to say after each outcome- This could be good! This could be bad! When something happens that you do not want to happen. Say to yourself, "This could be good!" When something happens that you want to happen. Say to yourself, "This could be bad!"

[Relationships] Carry the stillness with you where ever you may travel.
The power of the Spirit, the cleanser, the teacher, the comforter, the revealer of the truth which alone can set us free from fear, from the worship of force, for all evil. The power will enable you to do anything.
- Today You're Alive, Have No Worry For Tomorrow!
[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] If you want to do twice as much for yourself, your family, your profession, your community, expand the definition of yourself twice as much. I am willing to listen (receive). I am willing to learn (accept). I am willing to change (live). Whatever you resist tends to persist. Fall in love with learning (doing) something new.

[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] Our home was all but destroyed from hurricane Katrina. We are back in our home now after some serious renovations and rebuilding. For twelve months Allstate Insurance paid the high rent for a two bedroom house under our additional living expenses clause.

[Business:Presentation] The next morning I arrived at the shopping mall early. The outside door to the Department store was locked. The store opened at 10:00 am. I decided to go into the mall with many stores and go over to the doors that led into the Department store. I did not know what was happening, however hundred and hundreds of women were gathering by the large cage like gate to also get into the store.

[Business:Networking] Every time he saw his cousin, he would make it his business to be kind to him. Years passed by and he saw in the paper that his cousin had passed away. Edmund told me that he went to his cousin funeral. He knew that his cousin did not have any living relatives. To my knowledge I was the only cousin he had living. Edmund said that he was curious to find out to whom his cousin left all of his fortune.
- Greet Your Future With A Smile!
[Business:Marketing] On the other hand you can believe a lie that serves your life.
Mohamed Ali did this at one time. He said so many times: "I am the greatest, I am the prettiest, I float like a butterfly, I sting, like a bee, I am so happy to be me." When he started saying this, he was not the greatest prize fighter. He became what he got himself to believe and conceive.
- What Are We Doing Right!
[Business:Small-Business] After the president of the independent drilling company explained all the numbers he said that this company had the best safety record in the business. He then asked the audience - "What are we doing right?" Silence fell over the room. He asked the question again - "What are we doing right to have the best safety record in the industry?" Again no one spoke. He asked the question a third time- "What are we doing right?"

[Communications] Love is for everyone. Marriage is for grownups. When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. Some people think they are ready for marriage. Some people have no business being in business.
No one can tell if you're ready. Only you will know.
William Shakespeare said in the sixteenth century.

- My Wife Married Me For My Potential!
[Arts-and-Entertainment:Philosophy] I know people with so much potential. However they do not seam to have expectations of themselves. They wait for their ship to come in. They dream, hope, wish, and pray. Potential without expectations is dead. What ever you expect with confidence tends to materialize.
- The Key Word Is Enough!
[Reference-and-Education:Languages] The most challenging lesson you can learn is to focus enough on taking care of yourself! The problem with being a human being is that we forget, or sometimes we pretend not to know.
- What Is The Big Idea?
[Self-Improvement:Success] The idea belongs to me because I am taking action steps to bring it to fruition. The world will freely roll in ecstasy at your feet in the form of an idea. However remember to do what Franz Kafka says to get your share of ideas to act upon. He says in the following statement.

[Self-Improvement] Three kinds of people. People that make things happen. People that watch things happen. People that wake up and say, "What is happening!" All three kinds of people are very important. The people that say, Whet is happening, sometimes start watching things happen. The people that watch things happen, something's start making things happen.

[Self-Improvement:Motivation] It is never too late to fill in the blanks because knowledge organizes itself. We do not stop learning because we get older. We get old because we stop learning. There are old people that are young and young people that are old.

[Arts-and-Entertainment:Humor] She went on to say, "You have been taught to managed money and live on your own." Mr. Blake told me that everyday he would line up with all the other kids and couples would come by to choose a child for adoption. He said he would go and comb his hair neat, hoping to be adopted. It never did happen!
- Green And Growing Or Ripe And Rotten
[Arts-and-Entertainment:Astrology] Never change who you are, never change how you learn. Change how you think. We are living learning problem solving beings because we think. Two heads are better than one, three heads are better than two, except when they are arguing.
- A Wrong Way of Thinking
[Arts-and-Entertainment:Philosophy] Kill them with kindness. My Mother used to tell me this when someone would get the best of me. The word politics means to influence. You are a politician. When someone is giving you a difficult time, kill them with kindness. You will eventually influence them to be like you. You do not want them to influence you to be like them.

[Arts-and-Entertainment:Philosophy] It is mind over matter. If you do not learn to use your mind to expect something good to happen, it really does not matter. Mark Twain said over one hundred years ago, "It is not what you do not know that will hurt you the most, it is what you think you know, and it just isn't so."
- Two Heads are Better Than One!
[Self-Improvement:Motivation] Two heads are better than one. Three heads are better than two, except when they are arguing. Do not go it alone. Ask for help. One of the seven deadliest sins is pride. I would rather do it myself. Success is a team effort. When someone gets the academy award they start thanking all the people that contributed to the winning of the award. One person gets the award and all of them get the cash. If no one cares who get the credit as long as everyone gets the cash, two or more ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

[Self-Improvement:Motivation] It was dark and he was riding down the street when a big German Shepard came running out from the side yard of a home. He started pedaling as fast as he could. The dog chases him for a long distance. Paul said that he did not stop until he arrived home. He told Norma, I do not know where the energy came from. I did not think I would make it one more block, must less four miles.
- At Least Give Yourself Credit
[Arts-and-Entertainment:Philosophy] When you stop kicking, they start dividing up all of your stuff. Everything you need is at your finger tips to what you must do. Talent does what it can, genus does what it must! Get in touch with the genus in you and shift your expectations into gear. Too busy? Too much trouble? Thinking about it too much? Too expensive? Too lazy?
- It's About Jobs!
[Business] The challenge is to find your passion. Just remember that what ever your passion may be, it is ultimately about creating more jobs. If someone tells you, you are giving me more work! Remember that is what you are supposed to do. Create more jobs. With out jobs we become poor. The only way to help the poor is to find your passion and know that your passion is about creating more jobs.

[Business:Ethics] All of this advice applies to any profession. Keep your dream in your heart. Be yourself, and be good at what you do. Never beat a dead horse. It’s over! What are you going to do about it?

[Self-Improvement:Inspirational] I realized after reflecting on those words, that is what I wanted all along. All of my efforts were being realized. I want what I do.

[Arts-and-Entertainment:Humanities] Phillip brought a throw away camera he wanted a picture of all of us together. The waitress took a few pictures of all of us with our arms around each other. We will meet again soon to talk and share laughs. We were so blessed with such a good child hood and to still have each other.

We are blessed to have the ability to learn from every experience if we commit ourselves, to open up to receiving the message attached to each one. In my journey of over sixty years I have learned quite a few things. There is much more to learn of course, but in this article I will share with you some of the experiences and the learning that has shaped my beliefs.
