- Lead in Our Food? Now, THAT is a Heavy Meal!
[Health-and-Fitness:Nutrition] The heavy, and toxic metal, lead has contaminated our world for the last 80 years, mostly due to leaded gasoline, burning of fossil fuels, and metallurgy. It has no use by the human body, and high levels have lead to neurotoxicity and high blood pressure. However, lead exists naturally in our environment, in our food, water, and air, and although we cannot get our lead consumption to zero, there are things we can do to reduce our exposure.
- Vitamin D Deficiency Epidemic and The Relationship to Chronic Degenerative Disease
[Health-and-Fitness:Diseases] One's ignorance of their own involvement in the vitamin D deficiency epidemic could lead to heart disease and cancer. - The Cholesterol Conspiracy - The Truth About Statins And Nutritional Supplementation
[Health-and-Fitness:Heart-Disease] What is the true cause of heart disease, and how can we truly reduce the risk of death? Atherosclerosis, or Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), is the leading cause of death in both men and women. In the U.S. alone, there are more than one million heart attacks every year, one third of them resulting in death. The majority of men and women currently have, or are actively developing, atherosclerosis. By age 20, most people already have a 15-25% narrowing of their arteries due to plaque formation. By age 40, there is a 30-50% clogging of their arteries.
- The Untold Epidemic - Vitamin E Deficiency
[Health-and-Fitness:Supplements] Few people are aware that there is also a serious epidemic deficiency of vitamin E. We should be taking at least 30 to 50 times above the RDA level of 15 to 30 IU/day (in the order of 400 to 1000 IU/day) of vitamin E to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Taking this much vitamin E in the correct form and balance with other vitamins, is both safe and effective; more than the pharmaceutical companies would have you believe. If doctors and the public were simply made aware of the poorly designed analyzes that denigrate vitamin E supplementation, and the significant studies about the benefits of taking vitamin E, in the form of alpha-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol (along with delta-tocopherol and the mixed tocotrienols) along with vitamin C and vitamin K, which replenishes the antioxidant abilities of vitamin E, then I believe that not only would people need less medication and reduce the economic crisis in the health care industry, but more importantly people could enjoy true health.
