L: Cannot. The doctor said that patients who take this chemo have only fifteen to twenty percent chance of success. I don't know why the doctor still asked us to do this. I don't know why. My husband is very old already and he is weak.

  • Ten Questions About the World's Most Well Fought Battle Against Colon Cancer
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] Tony Snow used to walk along the "corridor of power" in the most powerful political office on earth. I would imagine that the most powerful man on earth would be able to do "something great" to help his beloved staff and fellowman who was in great distress. I believe that Snow would have gotten the best - the best advice, the best doctor, the best drugs and the best hospital - for him to fight his war against cancer.

  • The Meaningless Shrinkage of Tumor
[Cancer:Lung-Mesothelioma-Asbestos] While on Tarceva, Mark was told that initially the tumour had shrunk to about eighty percent of its initial size. Unfortunately this shrinkage did not last. After eight months of Tarceva (costing him approximately RM 64,000) it was clear that the treatment had failed. Mark was told the disappointing news that the tumour had grown bigger again. Tarceva was not effective. In addition, the bony metastasis got worse. Mark was on Bonefos since his diagnosis and this medication cost about RM 400 per month.

[Cancer] Her son said: "While I was in the hospital in China I have seen some patients who suffered like my mother and who underwent similar treatments. About six months after the treatment the cancer spread to the brain. The doctor also told me that the type of cancer my mother has is very aggressive and there is a 90% chance that it will spread to other parts of the body. There is no guarantee that it will not spread."

  • Breast Cancer - When Chemotherapy Is Necessary
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] Chemotherapy had helped make Anna's life better. The lump has also shrunk. If four cycles were good for her, does it mean that more chemotherapy (up to eight cycles) would be better? Indeed this is debatable - more does not necessarily mean better! While chemotherapy did not hurt Anna, it certainly hurt the pocket.

  • Hollow Prognosis - Only One Month to Live Without More Chemotherapy
[Cancer] I asked Beng what was his initial expectation when he went for medical treatment. He said: "I expected to be cured. I totally believed that the chemotherapy was going to cure me." I then asked why he refused when the oncologist wanted to do the second round of chemotherapy. Beng replied: "Since it did not cure me the first round, I only half-believe him this time."

  • How Effective Is Chemotherapy For Breast Cancer?
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] After mastectomy, women are sent to see the oncologists. They are often told to go for chemotherapy. This treatment is like an "insurance" against future problems. The fear of recurrence is sufficient enough to make women go through chemotherapy. To them, the sufferings of the treatment are worth enduring for the promise of cure at the end of the adventure. What some oncologists don’t tell their patients is that not all the cancer cells are killed by the treatment or the treatment may not even benefit them.

  • Breast Cancer- When Chemotherapy Becomes A Useless And Dangerous Poisonous Cure
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] Research has shown that anthracycline-based chemotherapy only benefit 8% of cancer patients. The choice is clear. Women have a choice. Make that choice wisely. [Cancer:Breast-Cancer] The wife of a friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent mastectomy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. She was well after that. • Breast Cancer - Radiation-induced Agony and Metastases - Part 2
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] I have related the sad but not unusual case story of Gene. What had happened to Gene is what I have been seeing happen all too often. After chemotherapy and radiotherapy the cancer spread to the bone. I have often wondered if the treatments had anything to do with the metastasis. It is acknowledged that radiation itself can cause cancer.

  • Breast Cancer - Radiation-induced Agony and Metastases - Part 1
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] After surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for her breast cancer, Gene suffered extensive metastasis to her bones. According to the radiologist this was probably due to her radiation treatment. After taking herbs for three days, Gene felt better and had more energy. • Loosing the Breast Cancer War Part 3
[Cancer:Breast-Cancer] Most often, women with breast cancer are subjected to a "package" of standard treatments - surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormonal therapy. [Cancer] According to the World Cancer Report by 2020, the number of cancer cases will increase by 50%. One-third of these cancers can be prevented, and only one-third can be cured! Today, the US government spends more than US$2 billion each year trying to find this "elusive magic bullet" to cure cancer. So far no cure is in sight!

  • Treatments May Fuel Cancer's Spread?
[Cancer] After more than a decade working with cancer patients there is one phenomenon that I had observed - breast cancer patients tend to suffer metastasis (spread) to their lungs, bones, etc. pretty soon after undergoing medical treatments.

  • When Oncologists Said Elevated Platelets Count After Chemotherapy Was Good!
[Cancer] I was very happy and continued with my second, third and fourth chemo. The platelets went up higher and higher until it exceeded the range. So, for the third and fourth chemo, the platelets already exceeded the range. I asked the oncologist: "The platelet had already exceeded the range! Is it dangerous?" The doctor replied, "No, it's good! It must go up."

  • Some Oncologists Say Honest Things
[Cancer] An oncologist said - Oncology is not like other medical specialties where doing well is the norm. In oncology, even prolonging a patient's life for three months to a year is considered an achievement. Achieving a cure is like striking a jackpot! Not all cancers can be cured.

  • Cancer War: A War Lost!
[Cancer] Perhaps fighting cancer is like the Vietnamese war? I have maintained that treating cancer based on the concept of war would never succeed! If doctors wage an unending war within the body -- what do you think happens to the battleground (your body!)?

  • Cancer: Chemotherapy -- Do Unto Others As You Would Want Them Do Unto You!
[Cancer] I wonder, if any doctor would dare bring home antibiotics, steroids, chemo-drugs, etc., and give them to his family members! In a survey conducted among 118 doctors in the US, it was found that doctors would not use chemo-drugs on themselves, if they had cancer. Why is this so?

  • Cancer - A Way to Win: Lead a Stress-free Life
[Cancer] Western medicine does not consider one' manner of living as important as in the treatment of diseases. Indeed, I was baffled and saddened to know that a particular doctor told his seriously ill cancer patient to go ahead and do what he likes - play strenuous badminton games and do weight-lifting. It seems like a happy-go-lucky advice - go out and do what you like, you are going to die anyway! We feel that this is not sound advice coming from a professional who should know better.

Many people told me that sometimes even morphine or opium could not alleviate the pain. Isa took the Pain Tea (herbal concoction) as instructed, five times per day. She could now breathe and sleep well because there was no more pain.

He said: “The way the doctor talked to you seemed that the whole world was coming down.” The doctor asked me: “Do you have any insurance?” I replied: “Yes.” He said: “You better get rid of it -- anyway, it is not going to be your money. What have you to be afraid of -- the insurance is going to pay for you.” Just because the insurance pays for your medical treatment does not mean that they are necessary for you. Look at it another way -- unnecessary treatment could be outright dangerous or may even kill you!

  • Colorectal Cancer: Can Diet and Herbs Out-perform Chemotherapy?
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] The perception I had was without chemotherapy, colorectal cancer patients would die -- if not all of them, at least a great majority of them. But research data does not support that perception. The difference of five-year survival between chemotherapy and no chemotherapy group is only 8% or 13.5 %. Can this slim margin not be achieved by some other non-invasive and non-toxic means?

  • Colorectal Cancer Part 5: Review of Medical Literature: Not All Patients Benefit From Chemotherapy
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] After surgery, microscopic cancer cells are still left behind in the body. As an “insurance policy” patients are told by their oncologists to undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy (or both). The idea is to kill whatever cancer cells are left behind. But how effective is this? How valid is the assumption that chemotherapy can just do that?

  • Colorectal Cancer Part 6: Chemotherapy for the Elderly -- Is It Worth It?
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] The difference of benefits between chemotherapy and no chemotherapy was 7%. This benefit of increased survival comes with toxic side effects. While the younger patients might be able to tolerate the side effects, I wonder if the elderly would want to go through such “sufferings.” To the oncologists and researchers, the results were “statistically significant,” but from the viewpoint of patients, I wonder if it worth it?

  • Colorectal Cancer Part 4: A Story of How a Patient is Being Misled by His Oncologist
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] I am not against chemotherapy per se. I must say, however, that I am not agreeable to the “indiscriminate” use of chemotherapy. Even more so, if the cards have not been laid out clearly on the table. Unfortunately in some cases, patients are being misled. This is one sad story of how a patient was taken for a “ride” by his oncologist.

  • Colorectal Cancer Part 3: Must You Die if You Do Not Undergo Chemotherapy After Surgery?
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] It is a standard practice or golden rule so to say, that after surgery, patients are asked to undergo chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. Sometime, when the doctor does not think chemotherapy is indicated, the patients themselves do not feel safe. Think seriously about these two real life stories presented here.

  • Colorectal Cancer Part 2: Medical or Herbal Treatment?
[Cancer:Colon-Rectal-Cancer] The primary therapy for colorectal cancer is surgery. At an early stage, surgery cures it. However, more often than not, doctors would refer patients to the oncologists for chemotherapy. 5-FU is the gold standard agent used in chemotherapy. Bob’s dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. He declined chemotherapy and opted for herbs instead. He changed his lifestyle and diet. It has been nine years and he is doing fine.

  • Cancer: The Shocking Truth About the Effectiveness of Chemotherapy
[Cancer] Do you want to know what is the contribution or exact role of chemotherapy to your cancer cure? If you want to know the truth, read this article: "The contribution of cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adult malignancies." The report of this study is exactly what cancer patients have been waiting and looking for.

  • Cancer: The Ugly Truth About Chemotherapy
[Cancer] I have given only a few examples of prominent personalities who died of cancer. Do you ever ask why they died? Is it because they don’t have the best hospital to go to? Is it because they don’t have access to the best drugs? Is it because there are no good oncologists to attend to them? Is it because they don’t have the money to get the best of everything? I think the answer is glaringly evident and simple: the so-called state-of-the art cancer treatments do not work - at least for them.

  • Cancer: Understanding the Body and the Need for Change to Heal

  • Healing of Cancer: Placebo and Nocebo - the Power of Suggestion for Good and Evil
[Cancer] A placebo can be a powerful medicine, but unfortunately, not much is written or said about it. Neither is there any extensive research carried out on it. Nobody is going to make any money from such knowledge. Vested interest groups would be contented to exploit the advantages and benefits of the placebo effect while at the same time publicly denouncing its role, especially when it involves alternative medicines. Either way, the placebo effect serves their agenda.

  • Healing of Cancer: Be An Exceptional Patient, Not A Statistic
[Cancer] In giving the prognosis, doctors are only relying on statistics. Their words are based on what literature says in terms of average. Statistical averages do not necessarily apply to you, especially if you are a patient with a strong desire to win and help yourself. Never give up!

  • Healing of Cancer: Awakening the Physician Within
[Cancer] The healing power of the body is within us. There is a physician within us and this power heals us absolutely. Many of us are ignorant or are unaware of our own body's healing potential. Many of us block ourselves off from this potential, preferring to trust others whom we think can 'cure' us rather than trust our own 'Infinite Intelligence' within.

[Cancer] Medical science only addresses the physical aspect of the biological cancer, leaving a big hollow or void with regards to the emotions. This is inadequate and unsatisfactory. What the world needs is to recognise and address the emotional or psychological cancers that exist in the patients. These are equally destructive forces that eat up the patients from within.

  • Healing of Cancer: Belief and the Power of the Mind
[Cancer] The understanding of the emotional mind is important in the healing of cancer. Cancer patients are under extreme emotional stress and the emotional minds are conditioned to believe in anything and accept any suggestion. As a result, cancer patients will "swallow anything" without hesitation or question! Because of this, cancer patients must be aware that a wrong emotional mindset would be destructive.

[Cancer] Not all cancer patients who come and see us find their healing. Many come on a "fishing trip", hoping to find a magic potion what does not exist.
