eBay's Unfair Negative Feedback System
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Most sellers know that eBay caters more to the buyer than the seller. It's good customer service on their part. They make sure that customers have the final say on just about every matter involving a transaction. If the customer is not satisfied, they leave negative feedback. If a buyer has to deal with an unreasonable customer, there's no recourse for that customer's actions.

One of the biggest things that eBay boasts to their customers is that they can rate how their service was with the seller that they do business with. This is a permanent record that cannot be removed. If a buyer posts negative feedback, it can only be easily removed by the buyer. Getting unfair negative feedback from a buyer removed from your seller account is like pulling teeth, and in most cases feels impossible. And believe it or not, it does happen.

Sellers are not allowed to give feedback to buyers. eBay used to allow this in the past but removed the feature. This makes it difficult for sellers to warn other sellers about difficult buyers.

As far as fraudulent or suspicious activity from buyers, this is also another thing that eBay makes difficult to report. In most cases, a simple email will not suffice. You must take screen shots of all contact between yourself and the customer along with the entire transaction history and send it to several different authorities on the matter. Even then, most of the time no action or investigation is made against the suspicious buyer.

Luckily, for the most part, eBay is a fair community. You will occasionally run into the unscrupulous buyer, but the encounters are few and far between enough to give a feeling of safety for most buyers. There are also programs available to combat unfair negative feedback. This is something that all eBay sellers, new and old, should know.
