eBay Mistakes Made by Users

Expert Author Chris E Bowser

Are you determined to make it as an eBay seller? It is very frustrating to start any business and watch it crumble before your very eyes. The smart thing to do is to avoid the mistakes that will make all your efforts fruitless ones.

Here are some common mistakes to avoid as a new eBay seller:

Not Uploading Pictures of Items You Plan to Sell

The affordable cost of digital cameras has made it impossible to avoid including pictures of the items you plan to sell on eBay - for the love of God! Please invest in a real camera and don't use your mobile phone. Okay, you are on a shoe string budget, then all you have to do is to include stock images the manufacturers provide for the product(s). If you fail to use pictures of your items, you will definitely be missing out on much higher bids.

Writing ONLY One Sentence Descriptions or Worse, Not Writing at All!

Geez! How can someone put up an item for sale and not take out at least 15 minutes to write well detailed information about the product that he or she is selling? But the truth is, one can never underestimate how LAZY some individuals can actually be. Even if you are of the strong opinion that anyone looking at your listed item knows what it is about and how it functions, do not assume that. There may be an individual who was just surfing and really doesn't know everything about the item, just think of what the person will think of you, if he or she doesn't see a detailed description about the item on sale. People do not place bids on what they do not know or understand - take the hint.

Holding A Grudge Against PayPal

Agreed, this issue is not as common as it once was, but there are people who do not want to let go of their grudge against PayPal, people who absolutely hate paying their transaction fees or sellers who have merchant account and simply prefer to use this. The truth is that PayPal is so well integrated into eBay now, it is very easy for shoppers to use - translation: you had better accept PayPal on all your auctions or else you can kiss making a fortune on eBay, a long kiss goodbye!

Misspelling Auction Titles

If you are not good at spelling get someone who is good at spelling to help you out (no one is judging anyone, we have all got spellings wrong sometime in our lives). Some people take advantage of sellers who misspell auction titles, because they know that when a product name is misspelled, very few people will be able to find it, so they take advantage of this and pay a lower price on the item. As an eBay seller you want the highest bid on your item, so make sure you take a couple of minutes to cross check your spellings.

Not Responding to Questions

You should reply to questions asked by potential buyers or bidders with immediate effect and automatic alacrity!
