What do you focus on most of your days? How beautiful the world around you is - or - how frustrated you are? How much abundance you have in your life - or - how nothing ever seems to go your way? When you focus on what is wrong, you can see it everywhere. When you focus on what is right - you will find an equal number of experiences and facts to support that belief. Focusing on the negative, or all that is wrong, keeps you stuck. When you focus on all that is right, good, wonderful and abundant in your life you will attract more joy into your life.
Where is your focus?
Not sure? Sometimes we don't realize where our focus is. We often think we are moving forward, taking action to bring about change in our lives, yet the change or success still seems to elude us. To determine where your focus is begin to pay attention.
Pay attention to your body
What sensations do you experience when you are thinking your thoughts? For example, when you are worried or frustrated, do you get a knot in our stomach or a headache? What about when you are joyful, excited and appreciative of what is going on in your life, do you feel lighter with positive energy flowing through your body? Do you feel light, great, or up most of the time or do you feel tight, stressed and down quite often? How does what is going in your body relate to your mood and vice versa? What would you like to do about that?
Pay attention to your body language
This is the visual representation of what is going on inside your body. It could look like a frown, scowl, "vacant" eyes, or arms crossed when you are focused on problems or worries. It could also show up as a smile, eye contact and an open stance when focusing on solutions or possibilities. How does your body language effect your interactions with others? What would you like to change about that?
Pay attention to your words
We might think we are being optimistic or realistic yet our words are saying something else. We may say words like I can't or yeah but, or the problem is when we are focused on fears or concerns. It may also sound like yes, it's possible, I can, I will or I am when focused on choices and empowerment. What words are you using to express yourself? What would you like to be saying more often?
Pay attention to your actions, behaviors, habits or reactions
When focused on doubt, it could show up as a habit or action that contradicts what we say we want in life, like not starting or finishing a project. If focused on fear it could show up in stopping in our tracks if an obstacle appears. When focused on confidence we seek to work around obstacles. When focused on possibilities we eagerly start and finish our projects. How do your actions, behaviors and habits impact your life?
Making The Shift
When you pay attention to how you are feeling, being and acting, you create space to make new choices. Though it often feels automatic, we are all always at choice with our actions, reactions and words. It up to you to make the choices that align with your values, goals and vision for your life!
