Your article writing and what you take from it. Like everything else in life article writing is a balance of give and take. The article is your give, when you provide information to your readers. The resource box is your take where you are allowed to insert information about yourself, your service or product and then put one or two links in to your sites. Personally I would steer away from too much personal information in here, that should be in your public profile and if readers wish to know more about you they can read about it there.
Every day people go on the internet purely in search of information for any number of reasons. The main one I suspect is to solve a problem that they have. Your task with your article is to help them achieve a solution. You might not be able to complete this task in one article but you may be offering something that will. You need to generate enough interest in their minds to get them to click on your link and to either sign up to your list or purchase something.
Over the years people have learnt the benefits of search engine optimisation this has led to them to appreciating the rewards articles can bring to their websites. Article sites will contain many articles on many topics and as a reader finishes reading they are normally faced with a resource box. If they have enjoyed the article and perhaps learnt something from it they might very well continue on to the author's site who submitted it. Don't disappoint them by ensuring your site has some relevance to your article.
You will usually find the resource box at the end of the article and you must use it well. It should encourage the reader to continue on to your website. You will not have as much space as you've had in the article box so you must ensure that each word counts. If you can write advertising copy you are already most of the way there. You will not have the benefit of video so you will have to stimulate the readers imagination to envisage what your product can do for them.
One tip is to employ keywords related to your website. These will of course add to the articles value in relation to search engine rankings. Try to build your credibility and trust with your audience it will pay off in the long term.
A bland resource box will not work, you need to employ fun and creativity and capture your readers imagination to make them click your links. The power of your resource box should never be underestimated. It may be small but it needs to be perfectly formed.
