Your Article Writing - What to Do Before You Submit

Expert Author Phil Hadfield

Article writing, what to do before you submit. Despite the fact that information based marketing has been on the internet for many years it continues to be one of the most popular methods for product promotion. Two reasons stand out, firstly they are free to submit and secondly they are free to read. This benefits both the writer and the reader. A win, win situation.

There are numerous tools and software available which will allow a writer to distribute articles more easily. However, despite these methods to increase efficiency in distribution there are a few common mistakes committed by authors prior to submission of their article.

1. Do not confuse your reason for promotion of the article with your reason for writing them. There will be three main benefits for you and those will be your branding, generation of leads and product promotion. There is however only one reason that you write an article and that is simply to inform your audience. If you do not do this you will fail to achieve your desired effect as readers will not be interested in finishing the article. Your ultimate aim is to get them to your resource box and have them visit your site. Do this by producing good content.

2. Aim to increase your promotional opportunities with your articles. Your articles will help increasing back links to your website. But you can increase these search engine results from the very same articles by using keywords throughout your article. Ensure you do not overdo their placement.

3. Remember that it's not just about back-linking, a large part of doing well will be by your article being seen and picked up by other publishers with large readerships. Apart from hopefully more visitors this will also give you better search engine results.

4. Do not write articles that do not help or inform your intended readers. There will be lots of similar articles written on a particular topic, it's inevitable in this area of mass information. They will no doubt contain very similar information as others. It is up to you to make your articles easy to read and more importantly easy to understand. This means explaining your topic simply, without any confusing filler and fluff. If you cannot reach the necessary word count, find some more facts.

5. You can increase your readership by submitting articles to directories that are happy and willing to share with others. If one publisher with a hundred thousand subscribers picks up on your well written, well researched article, you will increase your potential market almost overnight.

Write the articles that publishers require for their audiences and you will be accepted without any problems. Don't, and you will struggle to attract prospects. Remember to keep to the author's guidelines, including spelling and grammar checks. But above all your article must be aimed at your readers. They are the people that can make or break you in this game.
