You Need Resilience and Capacity For Spot Decisions For Succeeding in Tuna Fishing

The taste of tuna fish is so popular among fish-eaters and hence its demand is growing day by day. Tuna fishing, as a sport, is also getting more and more popular. But, for succeeding in tuna fishing, you should have a lot of resilience and a capacity to take spot decisions. It is a known fact that tuna fish fight fiercely when they are being caught and perhaps, this is the reason that is making fishing sport very adventurous and more attractive.

Since tuna fight fiercely, if you do not use the proper equipments, your equipments may get broken and in the process of catching the fish, you may also get injured. So, when you go for tuna fishing, a 50-pound two speed trolling reel and broomstick-thick rod are absolutely necessary. You should also use the proper bait-fish to catch your tuna fish.

Long-line fishing technique is suggested for doing commercial tuna fishing. Long lines may even be miles in length. In long line, there will be a main line and many branch lines and you should have baited hooks on each of them. In the long-line fishing technique, the boat used is quite large with about 30 to 70 meters length.

Driftnet fishing is another method used for tuna fishing. But this method is used for catching schools of tuna. A large net is used for catching these fish. Once the fish are caught in the net, the net is drawn into the boat. Drift net boats are not as large as long-line fishing boats. They need to be only 10 to 20 meters in length.

You should acquire sufficient knowledge in fishing before you plunge into this sport. You should know the surface temperatures and depths of various locations so that you can decide where to hunt for your tuna fish. Apart from that, you should gather details like weather conditions that prevail in the locations and the weather forecast. This is to avoid situations of finding yourself in trouble by being caught in stormy weather conditions in the middle of the seas. The more the knowledge and details you possess, the better are the chances of your success in your tuna fishing excursions.

For finding the right locations of where you should do your fishing, you should take the clues from the environment that prevails in the seas. You should look for diving birds because if you find a large number of diving birds hunting for bait fish, it shows that the area will have more tuna there. In the same fashion, the presence of large sea animals like dolphins, sharks and whales will also show that tuna fish will be available close by because tuna prefer to hang around these sea animals.

Tuna fish bite better in dim lighting. Hence you are advised to venture into the seas in the early morning hours or later afternoon hours when the lighting will be dim so that you can have a good catch of tuna.
